NEWSFLASH!!! KANSAS CITY DEAD TREE MEDIA SUPPORTS MAYOR SLY!!!

Kansas City Insiders know that the long-suffering and doomed daily newspaper needs tax breaks so they're playing defense and basically acting like cowards against any elected official at City Hall.

To wit . . .

THE SILLY STAR DRUNK ON MAYOR SLY'S GREEN KOOL-AID OFFERS THEIR ENDORSEMENT AND KOWTOWS TO HIS DEVELOPMENT AGENDA!!!

Take a look:

Star: Hardworking Sly James has earned re-election as Kansas City mayor

Rather than endure their horrible website and more Nebraska Furniture Mart adverts . . . Here's the money quote:

"James restored trust in local government after the desultory Mark Funkhouser years, while promoting successful elections to pave more roads, provide stable parks funding and build a downtown streetcar line.

He strongly backs an anti-crime initiative that has helped reduce murders. He has read to thousands of students in a program that has many other supporters. He works well with City Manager Troy Schulte to use statistics to improve services from city departments.

And he has boosted Kansas City’s visibility on the national scene, engaged with thousands of people on social media, and placed more women, minorities and younger residents in active roles of creating a better community.

Given this track record and his solid ideas for a second term, The Star recommends Sly James in the April 7 mayoral primary and in the June 23 general election."

The dead tree media celebration of an embattled politico who can't even get an endorsement in his own community reminds us of this bit of Irish dancing in celebration of the mayor not so long ago:

  1. This is just Yael sucking up. Possibly looking for a post-Star position.

  2. Why would his own community vote for him? The Obese Bowtie's community doesnt need a tax break. Mind you, his real community is voting for him... Lawyers, people who get city contracts and people who he gives jobs to.

  3. Can anyone imagine a scenario wher Yael finally gets the boot from the Star and minds up working for Sly at City Hall.

Woe to all of us! I'm starting to feel that Yael is going to br drawing a City paycheck soon enough :(

    Yowser :(

  4. What a pathetic and incompetent excuse for a mayor.

What a patheti and incompetent excuse for a newspaper.

Nowadays, corporate America IS America. You shouldn't be surprised at how that shakes out at the local level.

In this case, we're talking about sub-mediocre corporate news media (pretty much the only kind that's left) and a smart lawyer who has built a lucrative career by being a corporate shill and lapdog.

Re-elected or not, Sly will end up a very wealthy man. The Star will end up as an office furnishings auction.

  5. Could this be the payoff for extended tax breaks for the daily fish wrap?

  6. Someone reading to kids is very important. Thank you for doing it. But a big city mayor should be listening to the voters. Our "his honor" seems to only go where the warm and fuzzies live and/or where the cool kids' news cameras are.

He should be out trying to earn my vote. But he most likely will not, we are not a photo opportunity.

  9. Anon 1144 reminds us that we owe kudos to Tony for providing a forum for the bottom 1% of Kansas City.

I wonder if 1144 is going to vote for Sly? Any comments, anon 1144?

One year from now Yael will be working in a Kosher deli as a counterman picking up extra change if he can get you to take the extra cheese with the pastrami. He will be in the dustbin of history. He will be lucky a year from now if Mike Shanin lets him sweep up after Ruckus.

  12. Sly James wishes he was that slim. Not since he was seven... LOL

  13. Guess the Paper figures the streetcar will improve KCMO's ranking as the 5th worst-run city in America,

  14. Just think how many more miles of paved roads this city could have if it weren't for Troy Schulte, Terry Leeds, and Sherri McIntyre's racist discharge of an employee that cost the taxpayers $750,000
