MUST SEE!!! KANSAS CITY CREATIVE CLASS STANDS UP FOR ARTIST JESSICA BORUSKY AFTER SEIZURE CAR CRASH INJURIES!!!

Life isn't always easy for the creative class in Kansas City.

Close readers of TKC might remember our thoughtful chat with groundbreaking artist Jessica Borusky.

Her videos set the local art world abuzz and we were grateful to talk to this local trendsetter who is one of the few denizens of the "creative class" coming up with captivating work. During our interview we learned that Ms. Borusky was brilliant but also troubled. She's a rape survivor and also mourns close friends who have died from drug overdoses. Still, there's no denying this woman's talent and creative skill.

Now she has recently fallen upon harsh times and her friends have taken up an artsy crowdfunding collection to help her get on her feet.

Check it:

Jessica's Seizure Spectacular Fund

Jessica Borusky is talented, charismatic, funny, smart, kind, complicated, and above all, generous. She has introduced countless people to their favorite shows, bands, artists, and Pomeranians. She is an aggregator of all things high brow, low brow, unibrow. She is, by far, the best dancer I've ever shared the floor with.

She is also seriously struggling with her health right now.

A slew of health issues over the last few years, including multiple grand mal seizures, have resulted in repeated and often extended hospitalizations.

Just last week, Jessica had a grand mal seizure while driving. She was hospitalized, her car is totaled. She is currently facing escalating medical bills-- both from her most recent hospital stay and from the costs associated with the treatment she needs to help stabilize her health and hopefully stop/reduce the seizures in the future.

While Tim and Madeline are helping care for her in person, I know most of us can't be there with them to help. I also know that we (a community of Florida folk scattered across the world, of New College alums, of artists in the east and heartland, of pilates practitioners) want to help support Jessica.

Please give what you can to help her pay for her medical bills and car repairs.

In just one day, the friends of Ms. Borusky were able to meet their goal and support continues to come in . . . There's a lot of talk about "support" among the Kansas City arts community but this is a real work example that there is in fact a sense of community among local artists.

“A car crash harnesses elements of eroticism, aggression, desire, speed, drama, kinesthetic factors, the stylizing of motion, consumer goods, status -- all these in one event. I myself see the car crash as a tremendous sexual event really: a liberation of human and machine libido (if there is such a thing).”

There's not a lot of compassion here. Shame on you people. You are the worst Kansas City has to offer.

  12. Her art doesn't do anything for me but I hope she can modify her lifestyle to be a little more in harmony with reality and she manages her health issues so someone doesn't get killed if she's behind the wheel and it happens again.

Actually 6:16, if you've read the comments above, perhaps you'll understand why so many people are suspicious if this is for real or another crazy wacko "performance art" piece!

I immediately thought it was a charade due to: 1) photo included
    2) past history of this person as showcased on this blog 3) no explanation for her grand mal seizures, which typically result from epilepsy. Epilepsy risk factors include illicit drug/alcohol abuse, common in the "arts" community 4) epileptics usually have restricted driving privileges if allowed at all.

Hey, if it's for real, then I hope she gets help, but don't blame sane people for doubting the crazy.

  20. My knee hurts like hell anymore and just thinking of walking hurts worse than Byrons comments or a Glazer story. So would you all do a gofundme for my well being to the tune of say 10 million so I can sit at home all day and sling racist shit like that sheep shagger from WV does.
