Kansas City Uber Fight Top 5

Right now let's take another quick look at Kansas City's ongoing transit struggle.

To wit . . .

CELEBRATE THE TOP FIGHT FACETS OF THE KANSAS CITY UBER FIGHT!!!

1. Cowtown Tech Hypocrisy

A Kansas City Insider tells us this:

"We're supposed to be a 'progressive' city and pioneering tech but pushing Uber out makes our government look backward and behind the times. We want Dick Davis as our transit guy, really? If KC is going to claim that we're going to pioneer new technology and the Internet . . . This is the perfect time and place to start doing it."

Furthermore . . . The local tech and creative community is having a hard time explaining their loyalty to Mayor Sly along with this online push back.

2. Look For An Upcoming Missouri Supremacy Move

Uber and Lyft have been outgunned in KC Proper . . . However, they may be more effective in Jeff City . . . TKC EXCLUSIVE: LOOK FOR UBER TO USE JEFF CITY AS KANSAS CITY WORKAROUND!!!

Strangely, the Show-Me State GOP seems to love the tech and taxi application. You decide . . .

3. The Political Donation Angle Amid Campaign Season

This is the real Kansas City political scuttlebutt . . . Proponents of Uber are mad about the City Hall crackdown and they cite political donations as the main motivation of both the Mayor and City Council. Proving influence is nearly impossible but this talking point keeps coming up.

4. Kansas City Alternative Transportation Contradictions

Given that this is a town that is desperately searching for transit options beyond the but . . . The ride share crackdown seems exceptionally out of line with the otherwise pro-transit agenda of just about everybody running for office.

5. The Illusion Of Taxi Safety

Did you know that part of Kansas City taxi regs include rules against sweatsuits???

  1. Don't be silly. Kansas City is a progressive city just as long as new businesses don't interfere with our "friends and family" way of doing business and fit in with our "ready for the 1940s" streetcar-era mindset.

Clearly Uber favors the use of automobiles, and we're just not ready for that kind of thinking.

  2. Just check the visitors' logs on the 22nd and 29th floors of city hall at the end of each day for about a week and you'll be able to predict precisely what decisions about "public policy " are going to made the next week by Sly and the gang.
You don't have to be a weatherman to see which way the wind is blowing.

  5. Where did this insider ever get the idea we are not are progressive. We have socks 101, raygun t-shirts, a massive beer and alcohol industry, and a government that governs on twitter.

  6. And computers were supposed to make people smarter.
