Kansas City Toy Train Streetcar Juxtaposition

More propaganda celebrating the LONG DELAYED OPENING of the Kansas City streetcar line ALONG WITH AN ACCIDENTAL REVELATION that we're getting outdated tech WHEN NO WIRE OPTIONS ARE OPENING ELSEWHERE across the country. Check it: Streetcar projects opening in 2015 To wit . . .

IF WE'RE GOING TO TALK TOY TRAIN EXPANSION . . . A NO WIRE OPTION NEEDS TO BE ON THE TABLE . . . THERE'S NO REASON TO LOCK KANSAS CITY INTO UGLY BLIGHTING WIRES OVERHEAD WHEN THERE ARE BETTER ALTERNATIVES!!!

To be fair . . . I'm sure better no-wire alternatives would be incompatible with our current system and maybe just an example that there was no real community conversation about the current streetcar line and just a bunch of consultants and developers rigging a vote to fill their own pockets.

Developing . . .

  1. That's that jackass David Johnson's website.

I guess we didn't kick his ass hard enough last August.

Next time will be worse though.

  2. Only thing Johnson and Staubio are riding on is the backs of taxpayers.

It's their personal mini cottage industry.

  4. Take a long hard look at Mensaman and slyman. Look at them for a long while and you will see that just below the rhetoric and arrogant attitude lays a couple of small bully children. They are not really very well versed and they do not attempt to stay current in anything except how to solicit.
Overhead catenary wires went out with the typewriter and the Edsel. Modern rail systems are now all paying to dig up the street and put in below ground electric systems with "stinger" electrodes that actually supercharge streetcar battery packs at each stop. Of course the engineering firms that Mensa man and Slyman are beholden to will suggest that an upgrade be made a year after this present dinosaur trolley gets running. That means another round of bonds to be sold in 2018.

You are seeing the beginning of a movement.

    NO WIRES IN 2016!

    That is the rallying cry.

  6. I looked into this back in 2013. Anaheim was building a wireless streetcar and critics were pointing out that it nearly doubled the cost. For that price, judt build high speed, dedicated lane light rail.

Or expand the bus network, develop a mobile transit app, create sculptural bus stops, and market the entire system better.

  7. The fact that you can even invoke 6 responses to your 1,427 th GD complaint on the light rail demonstrates how this dumb ass site keeps rolling.

    New issue.

  8. Union Station to the Plaza (their next obvious target) will be best served by a modern state of the art dedicated zero emission bus system.

For a SMALL fraction of the cost.

  9. What the fuck is a sculptural bus stop? A very expensive shelter? It better have tiffany bullet proof glass. Dumb Bryan. Explain!

  10. Buses don't have overhead wires.
