Quick local political tidbit from last night, once again residents of Northeast Kansas City pleaded with the KCPS to save the historic Thacher school building.
This time around 4th District At-Large contender was joined by colleague Kathryn Shields along with more than a few parents and neighborhood residents.
Sadly, the board doesn't seem to be any closer to changing their minds and the abandoned building seems to be moving closer to the wrecking ball.

I think that it's important for people to see us set aside political ambition to fight for common interest in our community. I'm happy to work with anyone who can help us save our historic buildings and find creative reuses for the shuttered school buildings creating blight in our urban core.
