Craig Talks Kansas City Comedy Weekend

TKC NOTE
: An update from our pal Craig on his weekend plans . . .

The Next 'Genius' Comic? AJ Finney!

AJ Finney is now being compared to Jim Norton, Bill Burr and Louie CK. Why? His stuff is on target and deep. Finney was born and raised in the KC area. Now hails from Los Angeles, but still considers Kansas City his home. Like James Johann, Steve Kramer or Nikki Glaser.

AJ was a late arrival at Stanfords in Westport. He started there in 2003, the last season before the move to the Hooters spot on Metcalf. AJ's big break came in 2007 while working at the Stanfords located at Legends. Finney won the HBO 21 national contest. AJ was invited to Las Vegas to work the big show hosted by Chris Rock and Jerry Seinfeld. Shortly thereafter Finney signed with Larry the Cable Guy's management. Sounds odd because Finney is high brow and not blue collar.

Finney was an instant success on national radio. In fact his new album, "My Brain Don't Work Too Good" hit the top ten in sales on ITUNES this past year. He was invited to be on Last Comic Standing on NBC and now is one of America's hot still kinda young comics. He's come along ways since open mic's in Westport.

AJ will headline Stanford and Sons at Rosana Square this weekend. Friday and Saturday shows at 745 and 945. The new Stanfords Restaurant and Comedy Club is located at 119th and Metcalf.
The food rocks and yes we brought back the 'flower pot bread' from the old Westport days.

Names of interest coming up include next weeks star, Amed Amed who is one of the leads on Sullivan and Son with Steve Byrne. Then Police Academy's Michael Winslow, also coming soon to Stanfords Rain Pryor, yes daughter of Richard Pryor and now one of comedies huge stars, TJ Miller, star of Silicon Valley, Transformers 4, Big Hero Six which won the oscar and his nominated animated film, How To Train Your Dragon plus 30 other films. Fun times are coming. See you there.

  2. If you don't mind dive bars and clubs one visit is enough.

Leave your wife and daughters at home.

  3. The Games are all that matter today and tomorrow. In fact the best comedy around is going downtown and watching all the drunks hooting and hollering at Power and Light.

  4. GREAT time at the P&L and at the Sprint Center games yesterday!! -- heading back tonite -- no tix - just to watch and party at P&L.

P&L packed and partying!.. perfect freakin' weather! -- games on the giant screen-- good times!!

BTW __ the only "urban youths" to be seen were the ones running up and down the court at Sprint center--

    it's all good!

  5. Thank god for the taxpayers. Otherwise that downtown entertainment district would crumble into a heap faster then you can say sub prime crisis.

  9. Next week Glazer be on here bitching about how the "Real Game" basketball that was in town killed his weekend crowd to see who?

  10. Dave, Glazer has had a wild life, and, I am sure he regrets many of the things he did.

It is way past time, in my opinion, to get by the sins he committed.

Gawd, Gawd knows, I am guilty of so many sins. Time passes. The worm turns and we all, here in America, would like a chance at redemption.

Redemption, is that most American, egalitarian, hoped for relief, for we sinners. We, who have made mistakes, hurt and wounded those we love, embarrassed ourselves in our pursuit of health, happiness and the good life.

I am a sinner, who thinks that Glazer's sins, as time goes by, should be, at some point, forgiven.

God bless you Dave, I love your comments and, for the most part, agree with them.

    :)

  11. Seriously, enough is enough.

The "Hate Glazer" trope, takes on a life of itself, that has ever diminishing connections to reality.

Without a doubt, there were, especially, in the Star Chamber, PC Extemporaneous Courts we all live by (Read Comment Sections here and everywhere) evidence, that would and should damn the defendant to a PC Hell, which, in Glazer's business, is a PC Death.

Is there a sell by date on his sins?

Gimme a fuckin break, the guy is in his 60's. When does God, when do you, back away from the faux pretense of a judgement?

In truth, in my opinion, Glazer Haters are bandwagon chickens in a PC barnyard where the chickens suck up the shit, of, other chickens.

In the new, PC America, Honesty is character flaw, an exposure that slick, knowledgeable mavens avoid, in fear of exposure.

Glazer, embraces that exposure, those flaws, those mistakes, those wrong turns, and, in his own way, seeks redemption and forgiveness for his sins.

    Me too.

  12. WTF are you trying to say Chuck? Dave is right, Craig will be bitching about it I bet. He blamed the weather man here a few weeks ago. Craig and guys like you just don't get it, many can't forgive people like Craig who daily makes bank on their sins which if you want to address the act of sinning is a huge sin of itself. Chuck, you trash black people everyday for the things they do then turn around and say people like Craig should be forgiven. You are either drunk or have some really fucked up views on life when it comes to who gets passes on a criminal lifestyle and who does not. Just wonder if you would say the things you do about Craig if he was a black man.

  13. Glazer is a Kansas City Treasure, that we are all lucky to have.

I spoke with Ted McKnight 2 weeks ago. Admittedly, we were both drinking and bullshitting about any and everything that came up.

    Let me be, categorically clear.

Let me make no, NO mistake about what Ted, told me that night, just 2 weeks ago.

Ted told me, that he was going through the worst time of his life. Divorce, money problems and the usual litany of things, guys like you and me, go through all the time.

Ted told me, that his life was shit, he was depressed and lost, really lost.

Ted told me, that if it was not for Craig Glazer, that he has no idea, what would have happened to hi.

Ted told me, that Craig Glazer said he could move into his house, pay not rent, contribute ZERO until he was back on his feet.

    Lets review.

    Talk is cheap.

Again, Ted McKnight, the former running back for the KC Chiefs, told me, without ANY hesitation, that Craig Glazer, saved his life. For months and months, Ted McKnight lived at Craig Glazer's house, paid not rent, paid for zilch, while his friend (Who Ted Loves to this day), Craig Glazer, sheltered him from the storm.

Talk is fuckin cheap. I spent an hour, maybe an hour and a half talking to Ted McKnight at a bar on 103rd street, 2 weeks ago and he was, as are all of us, who appreciate a good friend, a guy who loved Craig Glazer. He still does.

By the way, I have pictures to back this story up.

Glazer is a stand up guy.

    We all fuck up.

In my opinion, if Glazer is your friend, you are doing ok.

    ReplyDelete
  14. The premise that I "Trash Black People" is absurd.

    I trash the culture.

    Gotta sleep, work tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Again, before I leave, lets make sure, we are crystal clear.

Ted McKnight, was really, really having the worst time of his life. Craig Glazer, was there for him. He got zero money, zero, zero, zero, other than the what all of us would do, take care of a friend in a horrible situation.

Let me emphasize, again, how much Ted told me, that he appreciated Craig's friendship in his darkest hour.

This was just 2 weeks ago and, again, I, kinda drunk and having some laughs, took some pictures.

Glazer has some rough edges and, in his business, being a "Climber" is part of the job description.

That said, in my opinion, in spite of his flaws, he is a Stand Up Guy.

    ReplyDelete
  16. One more thing. Verification is important. I texted Hearne pictures of Ted and myself with an abridged commentary that night.

    Talk is cheap.

Glazer is a stand up guy.

  17. Chuck is off his meds. He related to Byron?

  18. The Truth and Nothing But The Truth3/14/15, 1:32 AM

You know Chuck I sort use to respect you but you really fucked that up with that rant. Glazer isn't and will never be a stand up guy. If Glazer was a black man 9:16 is right you would be calling him everything short of a nigger as you made all understand he should be hanged in a public hanging.

  19. Byron Funkhouser3/14/15, 2:11 AM

    fascinating ...

    ReplyDelete
  20. Chuck is right.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Chuck just read all this. You are a good man. Ted is a wonderful friend and has been for years.

You are right on so many levels. As you see people who hate don't care. They don't want the truth. Most of them hate themselves.

We all make mistakes in life.EVERYONE does. I have tried to turn lemons into lemon aide.

While I broke the law, committed armed robberies against drug dealers and more, I had a code I lived by even then. It's clear you understand 'standup guy.' So do I.

So do the haters. Without any question they 'all' know I never ever gave up anyone in my life. Nor was I asked. I went to trial. WITH NO DEALS. I was the target, nobody wants to give 'the target' a deal. Unless you plead out and often not then.

So haters, knowing it would piss me off to the max, landed on the 'rat, snitch' thing..kinda like calling a tough NFL player a fag...we all get it. The opposite of what you are. I did go to prison.

I do media almost daily, certainly weekly. I take calls on many shows, nobody has ever called in with any 'rat' story. EVER. They could. Never happened.

Now if some think wearing a badge after you were outside the law makes you a fink, I can see that...but I never went after anyone I knew or just some small time doper when I was an agent. Cop.
    Most were hardcore. Enough said.j

I know few will read this, but Chuck thanks for being a decent person. I don't know you well, met you at Hearne's events. Need more people like you around.

  23. The real facts are3/14/15, 11:13 AM

Glazer was a 90 day half ass rent a cop who even made a mess of that by being arrested. I know I was there that night in Merriam when it all went down. I carried a real badge, not one I was no longer under contract to carry.

I would respect you Craig if you drove a Pinto and donated every dime you made of your so called lemonade to charities and kept none of it as a way of showing people crime is bad and one should never reap profits from it.

So take your so called stand up guy shit and shove it.

  24. Byron Funkhouser3/14/15, 11:35 AM

    Anon 11:13

Its not a real crime, you know. Its only a pretend crime. Its none of the state's business if people chose to do drugs. Not when the alternative is to put them in jail for committing a non crime. Murder is a crime. Rape is a crime. Drug possession is not!

    ReplyDelete
  25. 11:35 you're an idiot and that statement proved it. Ask Craig about going to jail over a pretend crime. He has been convicted twice over pretend crimes as you think they are.

Only thing Glazer ever did that was right was being Vern Miller's stool pigeon and costing him his run for Governor of Kansas. So to that I say, "Thank you Craig for being the fuck up you are and ruining Vern Millers political career."

    ReplyDelete
  26. Byron Funkhouser3/14/15, 11:46 AM

So, you think its the state's business to pretend that drug possession is a crime?
As you say, the crime was committed against Craig & every other American put in prison for this nonsensical belief!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hey Craig why don't you pal up with James and ruin his political career.

    ReplyDelete
  28. So he carried a badge and gun but it was all fake? Really. How is he a stoolie? I read his book. Great by the way. Did you not read Chucks story about Ted Mcnight. That said it all. Glazer is a good guy.

    ReplyDelete
  29. 12:07 no you didn't read the book because if you had REALLY READ it you wouldn't have said what you just did.

    ReplyDelete
  30. ok all you rubes who it appears are to dumb to grasp that Chuck and Craig cooked up these comments to try and make Craig look like he has a heart.

man you people would swallow about anything including Byrons sheep shit covered dick.

Well, we can certainly see that you're, yet another, paranoid asshole.

  32. Was a joke right3/14/15, 1:19 PM

    Glazer a stand up guy!

    BWWAHAHAHAH

    ReplyDelete
  33. So the snitch let someone live in his house for free because the asshole couldn't hold a job. Wow thats some real tear flowing kind of news. I would hate to think how many people every year help out friends who really have fallen on hard times. Sorry getting a divorce, not being able to hold a job and being an idiot with your money isn't the makings of a I saved your life bullshit story. Chuck, I am now convinced you're a complete fool and agree with others you and Glazer conspired this bullshit you both posted in here. Maybe I will send some pictures of myself to Hearne with some old has been Hollywood stars who now hang in no place bars getting drunk. But since I don't hang out in bars drinking all the time see no reason to do that or it even happening. Nice to see you sit in a bar doing all this drinking (as you admit here) then climb in a motor vehicle no doubt drunk and drive down the road. So you sure have no soapbox to stand on to be trashing any one person for doing anything wrong no matter what or about.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I agree, fuck you chuck and the Glazer you ride in on!
