This morning let's celebrate a Kansas City neighborhood victory against a recent string of break-in crime.
To wit . . .
CHECK NEIGHBORHOOD NEWS TESTIMONY TOUTING KANSAS CITY WESTSIDE VICTORY OVER BREAK-IN CROOKS TERRORIZING THIS DOWNTOWN NEIGHBORHOOD!!!
Here's the word . . .
"We received some calls on two suspicious males that were walking around, possibly casing houses. When the police arrived to investigate the activity, a crowbar was recovered from one of the parties. Crowbars are common tools used to pry open doors and windows. Their investigation also revealed both to have warrants. They were arrested and booked in. Neither of them reside on the Westside.
This neighborhood in a working class community that cares very much about their neighbors and families. Today, we were lucky that some of the members of this community took action by calling 911. A message was sent today that the people of the Westside will NOT tolerate opportunistic criminal activity.
There have been numerous burglary victims in our neighborhood and we are ALL tired of it. Again, THANK YOU for taking the time to help us protect our neighborhood. Please have a safe week. "
This message was sent after KCPD officials Chato Villalobos and Matt Tomasic had received a great deal of public info on the recent burglaries.
And while there's a lot of grousing about gentrification among North End Westside denizens who enjoy both hipster foodie fare along with bodega and neighborhood dive goodness . . . Crooks weren't as discriminating and targeted both gentrified homes and longtime residents.
While there are well-deserved complains about the "stop snitchin" code of silence in the urban core . . . This is an EXCELLENT EXAMPLE of an urban core neighborhood still home to working class (read: poor) Kansas City denizens taking a stand against crime.
