TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! TRANSIT ACTIVIST CLAY CHASTAIN RAGES AGAINST BLATANT KANSAS CITY DEAD TREE MEDIA MAYORAL ELECTION BIAS!!!

This latest note from activist Clay Chastain calls out the fading Kansas City newspaper industry for not other candidates in the Mayoral race the proper respect . . . Check it:

Print media bias toward mayoral candidates Clay Chastain and Vincent Lee

What is left of the print media in Kansas City, primarily the Kansas City Star and the Pitch Magazine, act as if Clay Chastain and Vincent Lee do not exist as candidates for mayor even though...

* the names of Clay Chastain and Vincent Lee will appear on the KCMO primary ballot;
* the mayor's race has hardly even begun;
* and no polls have been taken to indicate that King James is unbeatable.

Steve Vockrodt, reporter for the Pitch, wrote on January 20, 2015, "Kansas City Mayor Sly James-CERTAIN to retain his office, thanks to a hefty campaign war chest and a pair of hard-to-take seriously opponents...in Vincent Lee and Clay Chastain."

So Steve thinks he can read the voters simple minds and predict that voters...
* do not care about the character and leadership style of the candidates;
* do not care where each candidate stands on the issues;
* do not care what vision each candidate offers the people.

Rather, it appears Steve thinks the voters are a bunch of mindless shallow sheep who won't take any candidate "seriously" unless the candidate has a "hefty campaign war chest" behind them, like Sly has.

Now over at the biased Kansas City Star it gets even worse, as you might expect.

The Star, led by Lynn Horsley, has barely even written about the mayor's race, though it is only a little over two months away. And, of course, Sly likes it that way. When Lynn wrote about my running for mayor, she downgraded it by saying, "Clay Chastain announces Quixotic campaign for mayor."

Then to top it off, Star columnist and editorial board member Yael Abouhalkah (who fawns over Sly) couldn't even bring himself to mention our names (not to mention our respective visions and where we stand on the issues) when he wrote this piece of disrespectful arrogant crap: "Congratulations to Mayor Sly James, who squares off against two minor candidates, on his impending re-election."

Vincent Lee can speak for himself (and I hope he does), but let me remind those in the media who have a hidden agenda and seek to exploit the people by treating them like mushrooms (keeping them in the dark and feeding them manure)...

* I won a light rail election in 2006 with no money and going against the entire city's establishment, including the Kansas City Star. The people know the truth when they hear it.

* I (and my attorney) beat Sly James in the Missouri Supreme Court when he had the entire city council, the city's legal staff, and an outside private law firm behind him, and.....................,no doubt, the Kansas City Star cheering them on.!!!!

AND, if I can beat Sly in the court of law (over his bullying the people and their right to vote on their valid light rail initiative), I can beat Sly in the court of public opinion come election day.

Now what are our names, Yael?

    Rage away, you feckless Rail Demon :( Sadly, you will go down to the Fat Bowtie. Not because he is good and you are bad but because even an arrogant, fat bowtie dancing stooge is preferable to a phony, out of state soul-less weasel like you really are. Maybe a crunching in the Mayors Race will be the last we see or hear of you. And if we have to suffer another four years of the Fat Bowtie and a costly taxpayer funded downtown hotel and a multibillion dollar airport re-do and another few hundred million squandered on the street car and the extension of this boondoggle which is destined to go down in Kansas City history as the Fat Bowtie Line and the asoortment of tax giveaways to Burns/MacDonnell, KCPL and an assortment of other big business interests and law firms that, along with Sly, now run this town, anything is better than the thought of you being in charge or even stepping foot on KC soil.

  2. Everything 3:20 said aside, I find it appalling the behavior of the media. I haven't watched Week In Review since the call for a "Chastain free year." I still love me some Ruckus though!

  7. I agree with 6:07. I don't think the Star has that much influence these days.

  8. 3:20pm This is exactly the attitude that got Sly elected in the first place!

  10. I don't like Clay and I don't respect Clay BUT he is right about the treatment of so called minor candidates. If a person is willing to take the time, use his money and stand listening to the hecklers, the paper of record should treat them with the SAME COLUMN INCHES that the major candidate gets.
