TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY LAME DUCK CITY COUNCIL DUDES HELP THEIR FAVE CONTENDERS!!!

Kansas City politics is all about connections.

Who you know and what they can/will do for you rules most local election cycles thanks to an increasingly disengaged electorate and steadily declining voter participation.

To wit . . .

THIS TUESDAY MORNING OUR TKC BLOG COMMUNITY FEATURES A KANSAS CITY TRIPLE DOUBLE LOOK AT OUTGOING COUNCIL MEMBERS AND THE POLITICOS THEY'RE HELPING!!!

Official endorsements are rare and meaningless . . . Voters are usually tired of termed out politicos and don't want to hear what they think.

Instead, this work behind the scenes demonstrates more important favor trading that provides hopeful politicos a leg up on the competition.

Here's just a peek at behind the scenes Kansas City campaign advocacy . . .

COUNCIL DUDE ED FORD HELPS THE TERESA LOAR CITY HALL COMEBACK!!!

This Northland helping hand is probably the most substantial. A recent Northland Twin Creeks appointment pushed by the Council dude was more than a nice gesture but a sign that Ms. Loar is already well-connected to the City Council. For those who don't know, Twin Creeks is a MEGA development that will define the Northland for years to come and probably where TKC will retreat to after an asteroid, lightning or hipster rioting chases me from the Westside.

But I digress .  ..

Council Dude Ford doesn't shy away from his support for Teresa Loar and their friendship goes back decades.

While Conservatives across the bridge rage against this allegiance that speaks to Democratic Party loyalty . . . Ed Ford has helped Theresa Loar's campaign run smoothly after the loss of consultant Pat Gray.

LADIES FIRST: COUNCIL BROAD JAN MARCASON DIVES DEEP TO LAP UP SUPPORT FOR MO SEN. JOLIE JUSTUS!!!

Council lady Jan Marcason hasn't been shy about her hope to continue "girl power" in the 4th District.

Among local lady groups and in casual conversation, Council Lady Jan hopes hopes to hand her seat to Sen. Jolie Justus without much of a challenge from John Fierro who once again finds himself as the odd man out.

COUNCILMAN JOHN SHARP SUPPORTS MISSOURI DEMOCRATIC PARTY FAVORITE REP. KEVIN McMANUS!!!

As much as anything, Council Dude Sharp has always been a good Democrat. Accordingly, as the elder statesman at City Hall, Councilman Sharp seems to be siding with Rep. McManus who doesn't really have Sharp's deep connections to diverse communities in the Southland. Nice introductions to community groups and a slew of phone calls have already been reported back to our blog community. Also, it doesn't hurt that Councilman Sharp will probably stay active on the Southtown Council and other Kansas City neighborhood groups in order to give Rep. McManus a helping hand.

And so . . .

This peek at outgoing City Council denizens playing favorites with their replacements should remind voters that they're less important to the Democratic process than they might think and/or realize that behind the scenes help is how things get done are accomplished in Kansas City and these contenders already realize as much.

Developing . . .

  1. Now, now TKC. The fight between Jolie and John is just getting started. Don't show your favorites before things get good. Wait awhile and you'll see John make his play.

  7. Come Out Against Jolie1/27/15, 10:26 AM

Jolie is the biggest fake in KC. She likes to play the advocate but she hasn't accomplished much for anybody but herself.

  9. Hell NO, write in ANYBODY but Sly James.

    That 's the KC way.

  13. If I bend over, will I herf derf too?

Seriously, some of you sound like stupid a holes.

Sorry, I could work up a chuckle, but that would simply encourage the simpletons.

  14. I agree that Jolie has not accomplished a thing. John has a solid track record of getting things done on the boards and organizations that he has been involved with. He is a very creative person. The city would really benefit from his involvement as a council person. Jolie just needs another job.

  15. Ask Jolie if she will continue the strangle hold Jan gave Burns & Mac on the city budget? Also, will she suddenly be an expert in Engineering and be hired by them as a thank you like Circo got from KCPL?

I remember Ford and Loar being a pretty good team. They seemed to get things done as well. No surprise here.

  16. I remember Loar had a hot blonde secretary with glorious boobs at Burns and Mac. The secretary was the only reason to call on Loar.

  17. John Sharps endorsement means something. He doesn't follow the Mayor like a coward, he serves the black community better than any black councilmember. He is smart and knows how to get things done. So yeah, I'll listen to who he says is good.

  18. The big loser here is the 4th District. John Fierro is hopelessly inept. Jolie is better, but either one will be paired with Jim Glover who is rotting under the weight of all of his grudges.

I think it's good that some candidates have help, but I'm not sure if it'll help some of these candidates if people don't get out there and vote.

  20. John Sharp endorsement means nothing with the new lines. He could not elected in the 6th now if his life depended on it.

  21. "Council Dude Sharp has always been a good Democrat." Only since you've been alive, Tony. Sharp was elected to the State legislature as a Republican and only switched parties when his district (Hickman Mills area) went from predominantly white to black in the 80s and 90s. He still counts several big time Republicans and racists among his supporters.

  22. Sharp is supporting McManus because McManus is the best tool for Sharp's job: to sell his influence peddling services to his clients. If someone like Nash or Klein gets in, Sharp's power will be diminished. Indeed, Sharp will look like yesterday's news.
