This week has been tough on Kansas City's newspaper.
To wit . . .
TODAY UMKC IS SMACKING DOWN A RECENT REPORT QUESTIONING A TOP RANKING FOR THE BLOCH BIZ SCHOOL!!!
Turns out an independent audit commissioned by Gov. Jay confirms their ranking.
KCUR: Independent Review Supports UMKC Bloch School's Top Ranking
Deets:
"After reading the Star’s report questioning the authors’ methodology and ties with the school, Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon asked the University of Missouri Board of Curators to examine the rankings. Board members commissioned an independent review of the rankings.
"The report released Friday by the UM Board of Curators found that the top ranking was, "consistent with generally acceptable professional practices." The report also maintains that the school didn’t inflate the ranking in order to get a $32 million donation from philanthropist Henry W. Bloch for a new building.
"The review found that he made that decision months before the ranking."
Update . . . Biz Journal take as well: Independent review: UMKC didn't improperly influence rankings
Meanwhile . . .
UMKC KANGAROO CHANCELLOR LEO MORTON SMACKS DOWN THE DEAD TREE MEDIA IMPLICATION WITH AN UPBEAT LETTER TOUTING THE INDEPENDENT AUDIT WIN!!!
In other words, all this cheap talk about journalistic ethics and research was just TAKEN TO SCHOOL BY TKC'S ALMA MATER and it's also important to note that KCUR is becoming this town's news source of record given that the donation model is rising above the ad game in the world of journalism.
Developing . . .
Meh
ReplyDeleteZzzzzz
ReplyDeleteLast I heard KCUR thanked it's Corporate "sponsors" first and thanked the Joe and Jane Blow contributors as a minor footnote.
ReplyDeleteStranger Danger, Pervs, and Kangaroos in suits. Definitely entering the CK Media coma weekend early today.
ReplyDeleteGood that KCUR and UMKC is getting some much needed exposure here.
ReplyDeleteThe work of Mike Hendricks should now earn him his pink slip for Valentine's Day. That's your headline TKC!
ReplyDeleteThe School To Prison Pipeline was a good business plan after all
ReplyDeleteDidn't Leo Morton help bring Aquila down!!!
ReplyDeleteWhy do we always recycle the same failures???
I hope they run that school better than the bloch business operates or there will be more air heads coming out of that place than you can shake a stick at.
ReplyDeleteBloch hires few if any Bloch school grads. Remember they are the company that wants to eliminate the CPA.
ReplyDeleteBloch starting the school is a big fuck you to kids now a days.
Instead of going to Business school and you, know, BEING OFFERED A JOB IN A FUCKING BUSINESS you are now expected to go to school to be an 'entrepreneur' which is just slang for NO JOBS FOR YOUR GENERATION, IN MY DAY WE WENT DOWN TO AT&T and ASKED FOR ONE LIKE MEN!
So, the University-sponsored review exonerates the University? That's news! Only on TKC.
