- Yes, Mayor Kay transformed Kansas City's downtown and she's the prime mover in the long standing craze over TIF development mania now taking hold again.
- Like it or not, she'll probably get a statue or some other idol dedicated to her very soon.
- Mayor Kay remains a very strong force in civic life and a coveted speaker and guest on the local biz circuit.

Our beloved former Mayor Kay is a classy lady above all else and showing off her ring to girlfriends has been a joy for all the hopeful single ladies.

I didn't see anything derogatory in TKC's posting. This is the kind of story you would find in the gossip section of many NY tabloids. It is the type of fluff story you see every morning on Fox 4. It is inapporpriate on Fox 4, but for a local blog I see no problem. I can't imagine Mrs. Barnes would find any issue with this story. I rather enjoyed it.

And did someone (women) mention the issue of equal rights for women? Don't you find it appalling that supposedly educated females still persist with the antiquated ritual of "buying the bride" when preparing for marriage? One wonders if Ms. Barnes also accepted livestock from the groom.
FACT = women will never be "equal" until they start acting like even partners going into the marriage.
The success of a marriage is determined by the pain and suffering the miner's went through to extract the diamond.

Ugly and stupid comments won't change the fact that she is a great person and outstanding Kansas Citian who is, by the way, entitled to happiness just as all people are entitled to happiness. More power to her! People with any sense of decency and civility would simple say "Congratulations, Kay!" And thanks for turning a blighted downtown into the lively, busy, fun place it is today.
