Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster is making diversity in law enforcement a big part of his upcoming campaign for Gov. in the aftermath of the #Ferguson uprising.
This strategy may have consequences for readers of this blog given numbers which call out KCMO as having "one of the least representative" police departments in the nation.

TKC, one of the things that always comes up in this debate is the national numbers vs. local. While KCPD trails locally, on a national level they exceed their "quotas" even though people say there shouldn't be a quota system.

You have a black Chief, and 2 of the 5 Deputy Chiefs are black, one of which is a worthless piece of shit, and is literally dumber than a bag of hammers. (Yeah - I'm talking about YOU Hundley, you fat fuck ...). Several are promoted SOLELY because of affirmative action too, and NOT based on their actual qualifications. FACT, not opinion. And as previously stated elsewhere, you can't blame the department, (nor it's citizens), for lack of qualified applicants to begin with .....

ReplyDeleteI think the bigger questions here would be how many applicants? Are there minorities that are applying? Most don't meet any of the qualifications. Are they going to lower the bar for minorities?
ReplyDelete6:52 may be correct; I have no way to verify it. But living in Northeast, I have come to the conclusion that kcpd needs to find new and better ways to reflect the demographics of the areas they serve.

In one year, out of the 20,000 homicides throughout America, 46 percent of them were “us killing us.” That means in one year, nearly 9,000 young Black men died from murder—not by a White police force, but by us. Look at all of the funerals that are happening inside the community right now. Mothers, you are taking your son, your daughter to their final resting place because of gang conflict; it was something going on in the community. How can a White policeman’s killing of a Black Brother warrant more response from Black community leaders than our shooting of one another?

Those numbers dont mean dick if they aren't accompanied by the number of black applicants. They also need to show how many fail/pass the preliminary exams. They wont ever reveal those numbers because it will be deemed racist. If the majority of the black applicants come from the KC school district, they are most likely barely functional illiterates. You can only lower the bar in the name of diversity so low. The schools have dumbed criteria down to level the playing field. So you get what you see now.

ReplyDeleteActually it was the norm in many states in the U.S. in the 20th century to hire black cops in cities with more than a few blacks living there and they only patrolled in black neighborhoods. In southern cities with black cops many black cops couldn't arrest white folks and in many places if a black cop tried to arrest a white person, that white person would get indignant and resist and get away with it.
ReplyDeleteFrom my point of view as a white dude who has had official interaction's with the KCPD in my younger days, I grew up knowing that you did not fuck with the KCPD, but that they were almost always very professional and would even cut you some slack if you were straight with them. If you fucked with them, you would either get the club or slapper upside the head.
I consider the KCPD as the benchmark force in the Metro. I have one friend that's a black guy I grew up with who went on to play 10 years in the Arena League and then came back to K.C. and joined the force. He's a highly skilled cop with numerous stints in units outside of patrol. I know others from high school who have also went on to have exemplary careers with the KCPD.
Thankfully, unlike many other large Metro PD's in the country, the KCPD has a pretty good record of following the use of force guidelines and you rarely hear of them doing stupid shit, like tasering someone to death, or other similar crazy stuff. There was Officer Hubbard and the fireman, but hell, he got the shit beat out of him before he finally pulled his gun out and shot the WWE steroid boy. I don't blame him for what he did. He could of died and that fire guy would be in prison.
I kind of find it weird that his family refuses to accept the fact that the dead guy has to be held responsible for his actions that resulted in his death. They act like he was a choirboy who was simply walking down the street when he was shot. He had already assaulted one person and was on top of a cop beating the shit out of him in some kind of alcohol fueled roid rage. Why is he special? You can't do that to a regular person and get over, let alone a cop. Even if he would of survived, I don't see how he would of kept his job in the KCFD. You can't fight fires from prison.
Family refuses to hold their guy accountable for his actions. They should wake up.
With what has happen in Ferguson, Missouri, the Left now are now on a crusade for diversity in police departments. That is code for fewer White officers. The cop haters, Black racists, the race hustlers (Black clergy) cop block types and other assorted nuts and Lefties better consider this: if you think the police (polease for those who speak Ebonics) are corrupt, brutal and not enforcing the law now, just wait until blacks are the majority in the police (polease) department because they won't be the cops any more, they will be a gang with badges and guns. Yeah, I am a no good motherfucker for saying this, a racist and a hater and all the other insults libtards and Black apologists like to throw at a person rather than discuss the issues arising by those who questions their goals and methods.
