Every time the discussion or ads show George Brett (we gotta love him!) the absence of Frank White seethes the depression of all Americans. We see George Brett's statue.....(hooray!) while Frank White's, a few feet away, just as prominent and rightfully so, is ignored. We in America are proud of our sports heroes, and rightfully. All of them. If Sports is of any value culturally (it is), and if Kansas City contributes to the national and now international story (it does), then the cameras and correspondents must find Frank White. We wonder out loud, and in our hearts, "why Ferguson? What is happening?"
The answer is the factual loss of a homegrown hero to the thousand Americans of African descent (some living close enough to see the lights of the Stadium...on ground on which their Civil War blood was shed to yield an America still not accepting all Americans as full citizens ..shows our true colors.

Frank White was given the opportunity to be a part of the postseason activities and DECLINED the offer to join the players on the field.
Maybe he can contact the local sports psychologist Andrew Jacobs @ www.winnersunlimited.com and get over the bitterness that has consumed him and his valuable time.

Yeah but no. The beef Goldblatt is trying to get going here is specious at best. Frank White is on the outs with the Royals ever since he was on the broadcast team. Yeah thats his statue, and he is a hero around here, but George Brett is currently employed by the Royals, has served personally as a batting coach and is in the Hall of Fame with the third highest percentage of the vote of the BBWA ever. Frank White even went as far as to coach the T-Bones, a move that has to be in small part a slap at the Royals by working to draw baseball fans away from them for paid games. I LOVE Frank White but that Ferguson blast and all the associated connotations attached to it are bunk. An attempt to inflame emotion by injecting a racial aspect where zero exists.

ReplyDeleteI know I speak for more than myself when I say that this political correctness BS has gone way over the edge. People are sick of it. Even those who lean liberal. The coloreds and their fellow pity partiers need to realize that pieces like this do NOTHING to further their cause. Actually, just the opposite as it fosters more contempt from people that are tired of the race card (which is the majority of Americans). You moaners need to find a new record because this one has been broken for a LONG time.
