Jackson County Prosecutor: Experienced prosecutor joins office

One of the most experienced prosecutors in Missouri and Kansas – who served at the highest levels in U.S. Attorney offices on both sides of the state line – has joined the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office, Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.

Marietta Parker served for eight years in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Kansas, including acting U.S. Attorney from 2008 to 2009. Before that, she served for 12 years in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri, in 2001 as U. S. Attorney and for four years prior as First Assistant U.S. Attorney.

Parker also served from 1983 to 1988 in the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office, working as a trial team leader and in the homicide unit.

“Marietta Parker is a giant in the legal community in this region, even nationally,” Baker said. “It is a great opportunity for our office to be able to bring in someone with her experience.”

Parker will work in the office’s violent crime unit and will concentrate on training prosecutors to successfully prepare for trial and to aggressively pursue violent crime prosecutions.

  5. I have little faith in anyone who is endorsed by the worthless and inept Queen Jean.

  6. She's bringing in folks who know how to prosecute crime, unlike her.

  7. More politics in the prosecutor's office. Handing everything off to people with puffed resumes doesn't help the situation. What looks good on paper is problematic in practice.
