FACT CHECK: NOBODY CARES TO WATCH KANSAS CITY WINNING THE WORLD SERIES!!!

While Kansas City media has sacrificed nearly half of their coverage to MLB dictorial demands . . . The rest of the nation is tuning out.

To wit . . .

ONCE AGAIN THE VIEWERSHIP FOR THE KANSAS CITY ROYALS WORLD SERIES IS ABYSMAL AND PEOPLE IN GENERAL HAVE BETTER THINGS TO WATCH THAN BASEBALL!!!

Some great facts given that our newspaper has mainly turned into a promotional rag . . .

New York Times: Baseball Is No Longer the Center of Attention in a New Landscape

Deets . . .

"But this week, more people watched “NCIS: New Orleans” and “The Big Bang Theory,” and — for that matter — “The Walking Dead,” the cable show about zombies. The audience for “Sunday Night Football,” a regular season game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Denver Broncos, was almost twice that of Games 1 or 2. Even last Saturday night’s college football matchup — Florida State University versus Notre Dame — drew more viewers than either World Series game."

And while things are looking good for the Royals right now . . . In reality, the World Series has been a monumental failure this year and a sign that America's pastime is really video games.

  1. If the overpaid big baby millionaires HAD NOT gone on strike several years ago alienating 95% of baseball fans, maybe there'd be more people watching the games on TV. But really, it seems nobody really gives a rats ass.

    1. I'm not sure the strike has anything to do with it anymore. Most fans have come back. I believe most Americans have the attention span of gnats and can't handle the game. Often there are no cues to inform the casual fan when something "important" has happened and what the consequences of that event may be. Despite MLB's best attempts to drown the stadia with loud music and "get loud" signage, the game is still about how events set probabilities for events to follow. That too deep for most knuckle draggers who need a score attempt every 24 seconds.

  4. Baseball is about as exciting to watch as chess or turtle racing ... overpaid louts standing around spitting tobacco juice while grass grows and every now and then one of them smacks a ball with a stick. It is a relic of an earlier and simpler time. Nostalgia is a wonderful thing, but only in an old-school and insignificant way.

  5. Baseball is a slow and thoughtful game.

The American culture now fully embraces the quick and stupid.

And there is FAR more time spent standing around with no ball in play in the NFL than in baseball, but what with all those loud graphics and stadium rock distractions the rube populace doesn't seem to mind. It's all about THEIR fantasy teams anyway and the games are secondary at this point anyway.

  7. I agree about the strike alienating fans for a long long time. That was the stupidest thing ever for the sport.

  8. Or they are getting together and watching in more consolidated areas. I.e. everyone at P&L.

  9. 8:21 AM.........u hit it out of the park.

Since the strike in the 90's may longtime baseball fans, myself included, have turned our back on baseball.

When douche bags making millions of dollars to play a kids game can't manage their money, act like real people, and be thankful for what they are being given a opportunity to do, fuck them dead in the ass.

I personally enjoy my lounge chair, Directv, and a myriad of sports channels, movies, and first release porn.

Fuck baseball, fuck the NBA, fuck the NFL. You dipshit can party like it's 1985 for a month. All you will end up with is a shitty case of the clap and a stinch on your cocks that Mean Green won't wash off.

Fuck baseball. I'm down with MILFS Gone Wild.

  10. Pissant sized markets will not muster up nation wide viewership. That simple! I do bet you that if you collect the numbers from countries outside the U.S. you won't see a significant change downward. Move ABC, NBC, Fox and CBS out of LA to Chicago and you'll see a serious change in what people watch (are brainwashed to watch) across the board.

  11. ...and move them uot of New York too.

  14. A history lesson. What happened in 1994 -- 20 years ago -- wasn't a players' strike. It was an owners' lockout. The players were more than willing to continue to play while negotiating a new collective bargaining agreement, but the owners refused. They were determined to end free agency that the players had won both in court and through collective bargaining and it ended the next spring when the owners were cited for failure to bargain in good faith.

So you typical Tony ignoramuses can shove your talk about greedy players right back up your asses where you got it.

As typical around here, the truth is the opposite of what TKC denizens "think" it is because A) TKC denizens are too damned lazy to look things up before shooting their mouths off and B) TKC denizens don't "think" very well.

I'd venture to say that Chastain couldn't be any worse than the Rock-afire Showbiz clown show we've currently got occupying the office.

  21. 12:33 PM you are a stupid fucking hack.

Here is your fucking lesson, you self absorbed asshole...

When Seattle's Randy Johnson struck out Oakland's Ernie Young at 9:45 p.m. PDT on Aug. 11, 1994, baseball players walked off for what turned into the longest work stoppage in the history of major North American professional sports leagues, a 7½-month marathon of acrimony that wandered through hotel meeting rooms, the federal courts and even the White House.

It canceled the World Series for the first time in 90 years, cost players millions of dollars and management about $1 billion. Games didn't resume until the following April 25, 3½ weeks after an injunction was issued restoring the rules of the expired labor contract.

You 12:33 PM are just a fucking dog turd in the gutter. Now get back to suck cock you fucking moron.

  22. This is why the country is so screwed up.

We're cursed with dimwits like 1057 who believe in only the "Truth" they perceive and are too intellectually incompetent and incurious to find out the real truth and even consider that what they might "know" could be wrong.
