The KCPS repurposing initative is a grand idea that makes people feel warm and cozy inside but in reality has no practical application.
While Brad Pitt gave some cash to one school that's being converted into condos or whatever . . . In reality . . .
OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS THERE AS BEEN LITTLE TO NO PROGRESS "REPURPOSING" 30 VACANT KCPS PROPRIETIES THAT HAVE MOSTLY SERVED TO BLIGHT SURROUNDING NEIGHBORHOODS!!!
The reality is that Kansas City doesn't need, can't afford and couldn't possibly support 30 new community centers or whatever other scheme that sounds good in theory but never seems to work out . . . Time and again there has been happy reporting on the initiative as one development company after the next trades contracts . . . But economic practice is much more cruel than pie-in-the-sky theory and the cold, hard reality is that these buildings are decaying and bringing down the value of homes that surround the crumbling structures and barely standing as monuments to long-term Kansas City Proper population decline.

The Repurpose Office and Board leadership has been a total failure! Hopefully the State Auditor will take at this total waste of taxpayers funds. It will bankrupt the district with all these vacant schools NOT being sold.
