TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! CONTROVERSY ERUPTS OVER MAYOR SLY HIRE MCLAIN BRYANT AND CONCERN OVER PARKS BOARD VS. CITY HALL CONFLICT!!!
McClain Bryant is one of the impressive young women in all of Kansas City and Mayor Sly's recent decision to hire her has put her in the middle of a growing controversy.
A quick glimpse at her resume reveals her impressive credentials: McClain E. Bryant, JD MBA, was formerly an attorney at Husch Blackwell LLP specializing in Campaign Finance and Ethics, and Government Affairs and Public Policy.
Ms. Bryant is also a Parks Board commissioner . . . She was recently hired by the Mayor's office. She started on Monday.

CONTROVERSY HAS ERUPTED AT CITY HALL OVER CONCERNS OF A POTENTIAL CONFLICT GIVEN THAT McCLAIN BRYANT IS WORKING FOR THE MAYOR BUT STILL PRESIDES AS A COMMISH OVER THE PARKS BOARD!!!
There are a lot of reasons why this new high profile City Hall hire has insiders concerned but here are just a few . . .
- This move gives the Mayor undue influence over the Parks Board. Sure, members are appointed by the Mayor but they can only be removed with a vote of the City Council. HOWEVER, if a Parks Board Commish is working for Sly . . . The relationship is now has a direct financial incentive and the influence of her boss should be obvious.
- Mayor Sly CLEARLY isn't listening to his advisers and other folks around him who might have encouraged a more rigorous vetting process. McClain Bryant is already showing up for work so the concerns about a conflict ARE ALREADY IN PLAY . . . The Mayor really didn't bother to check this out with anybody and (yet again) this demonstrates a really HUGE Mayor Sly misunderstanding of how civic affairs in KCMO work or at least another confirmation that the top politico in City Hall isn't listening to anybody's advice.
- This makes the others members of the Parks Board weaker and creates an unnecessary division among this influential group facing increasing budget cuts.
Accordingly . . .

CK works hard to keep people in this fake little bubble Sly and crew put up around them to keep them distracted from all the gross social and economic malfeasance they are engaging in. There's always been undue influence here and virtually every appointment he's made. Like Margaret May on the City Plan Commission with no more than a high school diploma and no real estate experience whatsoever. Go figure.
