KC Media Insider: It's a revolving door at KSHB-NBC Kansas City.
The shakeup at NBC-TV station KSHB continues: This week station management demoted popular weekday morning anchor JiaoJiao Shen to weekend anchor. In the last 16 months the station has forced out the morning show staff of: Morning Anchor Curtis Jay, popular Morning Meteorologist Brett Anthony, 2 different traffic reporters: Major Miles and Demetria Obilor and the Executive Producer of the show Markl Johnson. Staff is being told the ratings (viewership) for the morning show continues to decline. KSHB ranks 4th (last) in the morning and has ranked last in Kansas City for over 2 decades. KSHB's morning show seems to be a revolving door, it has gone through 5 different anchor teams (YES, 5 different teams) in the last 6 years and NOTHING seems to help improve the viewership. KSHB also launched a state-of-the-art studio this week to help improve the look and hopefully their ratings.

ReplyDeleteThey only put the gay ones on the evening news. That's the problem why the morning ratings are so low.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't a big fan of the jiao jiao and KSHB's attempt to throw anyone in front of the public to meet its mandated/dictated minority numbers, she does not represent my geographic preference and was in no way appealing in her attempts to put the news in my face.
ReplyDeleteso I exercised my right to privacy, said "fuck this" and flipped the channel.
No one is peeking in my window waiting to use the fact that I like to get my news from literate white folks against me later on.
The bar is too low at KSHB. They have failed to find the anchor with the integrity and credibility to build on. The production standards suck. If I would compare the out put at KSHB with that of other markets in the 2 million population range the station couldn't even begin to hold their own. The on air pace is way to slow, graphics are weak, local stories are more about feel good features and less about in depth reporting. At to the superficial aura the fact that NBC is the budget barn of national networks, thanks to bad past management and Comcast running the network like it was a cable station and you have KSHB looking like amatuer hour. The station needs energy, professionalism and production that doesn’t resemble a high school project, and, diversity that involves qualified personalities rather than looking like a non profit rehab project.

Check the Independence Police Dept records a few years back when Buckwheat Busby got busted for jacking up a little gay fag. I guess Buckwheat Busby topped him too deep.

ReplyDeleteMy mom met Busby at a grade school event about 10 years ago and she said he didn't act gay at all but he was smaller in person than he looks on TV. She also said he was totally lost in the way up north suburbs. Poor guy has a fine line to walk in KC. And he has to spend some mornings talking to school kids - ugh.

ReplyDeleteI can't handle the 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m childish weather dude who worries more about our inability to know when to eat outside than getting the forecast right.
Lastly, I can't believe Jack Harry stays with KSHB where he gets short shrift thanks to a constantly-impeding weather forecast on his time.
