Failed Waldo Restaurant Serves Up Bitter Final Note To Kansas City Neighborhood

Remedy was too "progressive" for Waldo and while going out of biz they insulted their neighbors with a less than classy screed. I'm not sure it's news but reveals the petty nature of most people in this town in the meatspace and not just online comments: Restaurant's goodbye letter leaves people sour

  1. It has got to be hard to compete with the MSG powerhouse of OK Joe's.

A line full of hardchargers and world-beaters amasses at 1115 AM each weekday for their glorious 15 minutes of double-fisting sodium-fries.

  2. Do they have the remedy to the nasty squirts their food caused?

  3. People who live in Waldo/Brookside of for that part anywhere that would be offended by that letter is nothing but fools who fucking whine and cry about anything out there in the world today. The place is closing I would guess from lack of support not from bad food as I for one ate in there a few times and while it wasn't top of the roof shout out about food it was far from garbage. Lots of good food in this town maybe too much I do wonder at times. But the little lady and I of late have gotten into the do it at home gig and eating just as fancy but probably better.
For the record I was put off by the bitch who was wearing the dog chain around her neck. If she wants to look like a dog then she can stay out of restaurants.

  4. Agreed, the dog chain and midwestern cuntish up-speak was more off-putting than anything Remedy could have written.

  5. Amazing. I'm familiar with Waldo, and I've never heard of Remedy. Could it be lack of advertising or just so-so food at a higher than so-so price?

  6. Actually, they were probably more like 10 years ahead of KCMO...

  7. This is an example of the media creating a controversy where there is none!!!

There was nothing offensive about their farewell letter, and in fact, they said nice things about Waldo, their patrons and staff.

    NO story here.

  8. Waldo is a shit hole filled with shit hole douche bags and hipster rejects. Mostly low IQ UMKC grads.

  9. Good riddence. That place sucked

  10. Remedy was OK, but not great. There are just too many good places in the area, and Remedy was the middle of the road. Yes, we visited a couple of times, but there are many more better places.
I think that "award winning chefs" need to watch out. There are waaay too many award given out to chefs today.
A restaurant is not just cooking. Managing a successful place is walking a very thin line, and I just dont think this restaurant had it.

  11. 5:14 makes a good point; there are tons of awards given today. If someone wins a blue-ribbon at their church's chili cook-off, I suppose they could call themselves an "award-winning" chef. I think another niche that needs filled in KC (and many areas for that matter) are restaurants that serve common and familiar dishes. We eat out several times a week, and while we like to try new dishes, you're not always in the mood for something in a "basil-infused reduction with Eco-friendly harvested greens and seared over an open fire of perfectly aged hickory wood." How about just some meat and potatoes already!

  12. I heard the orignal facebook post said they closed because of the toy train boondoggle Jim Crow unjust undue, but bully sly and mensa russ made them take it down and blame it on having hurt feelings instead.

PROVEN FACT: toy train boondoggle made WALDO too mad to eat! Kills business and babies playing in Sherry's illegally fenced in back yard!

  13. Slow news day for KCTV5 and TKC

  14. No one cares to overpay for hipster arrogance and a menu that doesn't do much for anyone.

No one cares to overpay for a train that doesn't go much of anywhere (Hipsterville stops only).

  15. Remedy fried EVERYTHING. We gave them three chances to develop a menu that did not call for a fryolator. We never went back after that.
