Tragic Kansas City Newspaper Transit Q&A

So funny, Dead Tree Media talks to pollsters just like our blog community and then tries to save their horrible biz model by way of sponsored and shill-y agenda driven asking: How would you suggest funding road repairs in Missouri and a streetcar extension in Kansas City?

Hell no, we already paid for that shit

This will keep Russ busy today. Thanks, KC Star.

I suggest the state b*stards take the hundreds of millions we already send them and use it to fix bad roads. Oh, and forget such a thing as a streetcar even exists. Unicorns would be more useful in KC.

Highways and bridges paid for by .09 gasoline user tax.
Streetcars would stay as it is with 2.2 mile downtown. Input from the community for better bus service on needed routes and times of service. Go ahead with the Max route on Prospect and better night service for those who need it[for those who get off late at night running smaller bus to get home or to work.
City Hall might start listing to the neighborhood groups what the needs are and not the companies that are giving input just to make money from the project.

Northlander makes some great suggestions that are, in fact, exactly what should be done.
Unfortunately, with the streetcar, Sly and the gang are already so far financially upside down that they desperately need to increase taxes somewhere just to pay for the money already spent and committed to the original Main Street line.
Claims, fluff, and outright lies can stay afloat only so long.
But arithmetic and facts always win out.

But from the above suggestions how are our favorite engineering and construction firms going to make money. Any discussions must take profits for these firms into account.

They'll just have to bid on real jobs. Just like Mensa boy.

I understand Columbus, Ohio is in need of a streetcar expert.

How about cutting outrageous six figure salaries with some City employees? That's a good start.

Yeah! Public transit is NOT USRFUL! It's real bad to have things which is why kick ass smart cities like Columbus and ck doesn't has it and fag central Denver and gay ass Charlotte and super queer places have that gay ass shit!

Fuck yeah, retard Mensa

Every neighborhood between downtown and the plaza just overwhelmingly said they need streetcars.

Build it where they want it.

If outright lies can only float so long, you anti transit leaguers are in trouble...

And If any of you actually used public transit you'd know the bus service changes have already been implemented.

Yes lets spend $225 Million to install obsolete cable cars on main!

That's better then an $11 million solution not requiring any overhead wires and and stuff!!!!

Easy: State should kill the corporate tax credits.

9:31-9:35: Transit does not necessarily mean streetcars, and the downtown-Plaza corridor is probably the most well-served (if not over-served) area in Kansas City as far as bus service (including a MAX line) is concerned.

Do the pro-transit, pro-gay posts mean Mensa boy's coming out?

Columbus, Ohio has one of the largest gay pride events in the country. You'd like it there, Mensa boy. Really, you would!

$10 MILLION GONE AND STILL NOTHING AFTER 10 YEARS OR MORE. THE PEOPLE HAVE VOTED THE LIGHT RAIL DOWN MORE THAN 6 TIMES,WHAT DOES CITY HALL NOT HEAR.Talked to Mensa man once he wanted light rail tried to get him to understand about streetcars,he didn't want to hear about it,now it's streetcars for him but he waited to long and the cost when up.

"he didn't want to hear about it"

That pretty mush says it. If he hears or reads something he doesn't agree with, he puts his fingers in his ears and goes, "Lalalalalala."

In the face of facts, he denies them, and in the face of opposing views, he attacks the person (often with lies that are self-evidently absurd), not the views.

In short, he's immature, dishonest, and intellectually lazy--a true sociopath.

He's the single greatest asset the anti-streetcar people have.

Remember that time when you said we were gonna get these new streetcars from Spain and stuff, and Kansas City was going to be all awesome and stuff like Portland and Denver and Charlotte are....

That was cool.

we dont want the toy train, go away

Fuck Streetcars
Widen I-70 with either federal funds or cut state aid to bastard kids and their parents. Cut school taxes in half and let those parenting the kids pay for them. Then go 20 miles outside St' Louis and KC and make I-70 a toll road. That would provide money for the next 100 years.

Yeah, let's spend it all on obsolete totally modern technology and make like every fucking road 16 lanes, bro!

My subaru is still cool right? Everyone wants to drive all the time everywhere. That's science. Touhey showed me a graph.

3:28: That is an excellent idea. Yael has been saying the people who use the road should pay for its upkeep, and that would do it without imposing a regressive sales tax on everyone in the state. I'd like to know what the objections to this would be.

It works in Kansas and Oklahoma with their turnpikes. It might just be worth a try here. Maybe we could raise the speed limit to 75 like on the Kansas and Oklahoma turnpikes.

As usual, the northland genius (4:57) prefers to denigrate others while refusing to discuss the issues. Only thing, what's with the Suburu? I thought he had an SUV.

Here is the poll that said the streetcar vote was too close to call.
