This was a bit of a contentious contest but Freedom, Inc. seems prepared for another urban core coup . . . Like it or not, TKC has told readers that this group has been stepping up their game now and enjoying a bit of a Renaissance.
Frank White's ascendance to the Jackson County Legislature supported by Freedom, Inc. is just another sign of the group's winning streak.
Nevertheless . . .
ALL OF THIS ELECTION INTRIGUE DOESN'T MENTION THE FACT THAT KANSAS CITY INSIDERS AREN'T EXPECTING ANYTHING BETTER THAN 15% REGISTERED VOTER TURNOUT FOR AUG. 5TH!!!
Last time around we've had single-digit numbers but the weather should be nice and there are a few more people paying attention. Seriously, don't be surprised if politico talk about success in getting 12% of the voting public out to the polls.
Still, cross-reference these paltry voter numbers with an ongoing boom in the Northland and legacy of JoCo exodus and readers can easily see that people are voting with their feet.

When it comes to the schools, the East side urban core or any part of KCMO that isn't downtown . . . We're really talking about an exodus trend instead of an open question given the comparison to continued suburban growth and sprawl and in spite of toy train streetcar cheerleading or any other politico double speak.

ReplyDeleteWe have a real simple system here in Missouri. All profits from the Lottery go to the pubic schools of the state.
By allowing "Veterans" their own lottery ticket and profits to use for "Veterans programs" you are literally taking money off the table for Missouri public schools.
"Veterans Programs" is a nice idea but it is something that should be supported by the federal government who started the wars, not the people of Missouri.
NO ON AMENDMENT 7 (Highway sales tax):

While Missouri has a responsibility to its citizens to keep the roads in good repair, the best way to do that is by instituting a fuel tax instead of a sales tax, as a fuel tax imposes the burden on those who use and degrade the roads the most.
Fuel taxes to pay for highway funds is the generally accepted means throughout the nation.
