"I don't think people understand what sending in the National Guard means. That's pretty much martial law. Standard issue for the Guardsmen is an M-16 and their vehicles also have the option to carry machine guns. A lot of people aren't going to like what they see tonight and it could reflect poorly on the Governor and on our state for years to come."

There are a lot more quotes from this conversation but both TKC and this KC Insider agreed that tonight Gov. Jay could go from being "The Education Governor" to something more akin to controversial Gov. George Wallace.
Again, this has implications for the entire state but local politicos seemed most concerned that Gov. Jay taking a political hit on this one could weaken Kansas City Democrats too.

ReplyDeleteFERGUSON, MO (KTVI) – Late night rioting and looting on Sunday night went beyond the borders of Ferguson. The mayor of Dellwood says eight businesses in his community were hit as well. The Dellwood Market was one of those locations, ransacked and nearly burned down by looters. FOX 2 has obtained surveillance video of the attack on the store as it happened.
ReplyDeleteIt begins with a group of fifteen to twenty people gathered outside, throwing items at the glass windows and doors, trying to break in. When they are unsuccessful, the video shows at least two men moving to the front of the group and opening fire with handguns.
Switching to a camera inside, the crowd manages to push through, and people start pouring inside. A large number of them immediately head behind the counter, grabbing cigarettes and liquor.

How many damn businesses have to be looted and burned to buy sympathy for the Browns?
