TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! CONTROVERSIAL KANSAS CITY INTERMEDIX AMBULANCE BILLING CONSULTING DEAL JUST THE LATEST IN PATTERN OF SKETCHY CONTRACTS RAMMED THROUGH BY MAYOR SLY AND HIS CITY COUNCIL ALLIANCE!!!

A controversial Kansas City Friday afternoon no-bid consulting deal has raised important questions about Mayor Sly's record and "win-at-all-costs" tactics concerning of City Hall contracts awarded during his tenure.

The Intermedix Ambulance Billing Outsourcing Ordinance was REPEALED after 8,078 valid voter signatures were certified in a grassroots petition challenging the legislation.

After the legislative defeat and even after some mistaken media reports noted that a consulting contract compromise was abandoned, OUR BLOG COMMUNITY BROKE NEWS OF A BEHIND THE SCENES CONSPIRACY TO AWARD A CONTROVERSIAL NO-BID CONTRACT TO THE SAME COMPANY THOUSANDS OF VOTERS PETITIONED TO REJECT . . . In the late afternoon, Dead Tree Media Columnist Yael celebrated the effort and brazenly called it a success.

Any objective observer to these City Hall shell game would realize that the circumstances of this deal are suspect at best.

Unfortunately . . .

THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME MAYOR SLY AND HIS FRIENDS ON THE CITY COUNCIL HAVE RAMMED THROUGH A SKETCHY CONTRACT OVER VEHEMENT OBJECTIONS!!!

Today, we've compiled more than a few HIGHLY SUSPECT contracts put together by Mayor Sly and the City Council which fit the same pattern . . .

Check this quick list of some of the most questionable and controversial recent City Hall deals put together by Mayor Sly and his friends on the City Council . . .

Council Lady/Mayor Pro Tem Cindy Circo's South Kansas City Soccer Disaster

The brainchild of Mayor Pro Tem Cindy, a Kansas City $13 Million mostly empty soccer complex has been part of a series of questionable contracts as Council Lady Circo has mostly pushed it through by way of emergency ordinance.

The Objectionable Bid For Kansas City Toy Train Streetcar Construction Management

Over vehement objections, Mayor Sly and Council Dude Russ Johnson championed a controversial construction deal after critics cried foul and pointed out significant problems in the bidding process. The contract didn't go to the lowest and best bidder and the committee that handled the whole thing was called into question . . . Nevertheless, the taxpayer cash was pushed through to keep the toy train on track.

$12 Million No-Bid Water Consulting Contract

More than anything, this recent ambulance billing contract scheme reminds us of $12 Million that was approved under Mayor Sly's watch, awarded mostly to consultants for the Water Department. It's worth pointing out that Mayor Sly James has refused a state audit of the Water Department while taxes to support the vital city service continue to mount.

Again, these are just a few of the questionable contracts that have been part of Mayor Sly's tenure.

THE PATTERN IS CLEAR: KANSAS CITY MAYOR SLY AND HIS FRIENDS ON THE COUNCIL CONTINUALLY AWARD NO BID AND OTHERWISE SKETCHY DEALS OVER OBJECTIONS AND DESPITE PUBLIC OUTCRY!!!

Mayor Sly James says that he wants to run for reelection based on the strength of his record, voters need to know this part of it.

  6. The elected folks in KCMO don't care about the voters or residents and don't feel in any way responsible for listening to what they need or want.
They also aren't particularly interested or engaged in what a city government actually is supposed to do, because playing amateur developer and giving away large sums to pretty much anyone who shows up on the 22nd or 29th floors of city hall with a smile and a shoeshine and a great story about the city "not being left behind" has a good chance of leaving the building with bags full of your money.
And most of the council really have never had real jobs and have to use the four or eight years at city hall sucking around looking for employment afterward and there's no better way to do that than to favor your future employers with big-time city contracts.
If you just keep this in mind, NONE of the constantly-repeating outrageous behavior by this gang should be the least bit surprising.
It's like the scorpion and the frog.
    It's just what they do.

  8. 10:51 thank you. My coffee taste better this morning after reading your post. Our lairs, thieves and outstanding corrupt city dignitaries across the river have made receiving payoffs part of their retirement funds for decades.

Life is great for about 12 people on the receiving end of Payoff Inc.

  19. A bullet train would be awesome. My daughter is currently in japan and just rode 600 miles in 2.5 hours. We will never have anything that great over here. It is efficient, cheap and super fast. Can't complain about that at all...
