MUST SEE!!! THE KANSAS CITY TALK SHOP!!!

Take a look at this really fascinating Kansas City open forum project with (hopefully) good intentions from the religious group that's buying up all of the property where Westport Rd. meets Main . . .

Check the clip:

Here are the deets on the project . . .

"The Talk Shop will be a temporary, experimental cultural center open in Midtown Kansas City for one year. It will be a vehicle for dialogue by hosting public events at which people will gather to discuss topics that matter in Kansas City, like education, transit or food issues.

"Through engaging, accessible, innovative public programming, The Talk Shop will involve individuals from the Kansas City community and beyond in an effort to both strengthen and diversify our own cultural landscape.

"You can learn more about the project, including ways you can support the Kansas City conversation, at our Indiegogo campaign page."

  1. I actually had the audio down on this one because I think I'll wait a year to see if it ends in a murder suicide like the ones in the early 70's

Is this more repackaged hipster fire-and-brimstoning from the Redeemer folks?

  3. I was reassured to hear that it would be "super diverse."

I like knowing that when engaging in a sweet "dialogue" that someone is mentally checking off race boxes.

  4. What a bunch of hipster bullshit. Let's go in a discuss craft beers and further pontificate on the collective awesomeness these young "innovators." Listening to their babble, it reeks of art-speak and self importance.

The real question: Does it bring anything the community? Or is it just a poseur clubhouse?

    I don't get it.

Why aren't these folks wearing Chiefs/Royals/college shirts?

There was not mention of how last night's/week's game was or how "we" are doing as a team.

These folks seem to be (gasp) trying to create something, and were suspiciously not consuming anything that I could discern.

These subversives need to be watched VERY closely.
