KANSAS CITY STREETCAR CRITICS REMIND VOTERS OF TRAGIC TOY TRAIN TRANSIT TROUBLES IN OTHER TOWNS!!!

Kansas City supporters of the streetcar tout the transit triumph of other bigger, better cities than this cowtown . . .

However . . .

KANSAS CITY VOTERS NEVER HEAR ABOUT THE DOWNSIDE OF TOY TRAIN TRANSIT IN OTHER TOWNS THAT HAVE TRIED IT AND FAILED!!!

Accordingly, when it comes to talking TOY TRAIN TRANSIT FAIL . . . Our blog community leads the way . . .

Here's are but a few VERY RECENT examples . . .

San Antonio: City pulls support for downtown streetcar

Reason: Is Detroit's New Light Rail Line America's Greatest Boondoggle?

Northwest: Criminals have taken over Seattle light rail trains

City mismanagement, cost and crime are top concerns of any transit project . . . Sadly, that discussion isn't taking place in Kansas City because local media is too afraid of pushback from Mayor and local corporations.

This corner of the Internets is really the only place for the conversation to take place where transit activists both for and against the toy train can hurl insults at one another without the pretense of persuasion directed toward an already overburdened voting public.

Developing . . .

Your fixation with opposing the street car and promoting gun use has undermined any credibility you earned during the Funkhouser experiment. Get over it bro.

How much do you think he gets to write anti-streetcar stories? Was it a bloc grant 6 months ago or does he get paid per play?

Is there any one city that has built a new streetcar that operates successfully and has spurred meaningful development?

Toy train supporters better start digging some trenches because this game is only getting started.

We sent them a message with our 84 to 16 percent rejection of the "medical research" proposal. Let's do it again, until they get it. Public servants are supposed to serve the public. Not serve them up on a platter. Just vote no!

Wow! Wonder if anything bad ever happen in other cities without streetcars? Road project cost overruns, crime commutes using a car, etc. P robably not, but if so, we should definitely build them just to prevent bad thing from happening.

Trenches are touristy frou frou for hipster renters. Also they cause him crow.

Stop the toy ditch! Vote no on trenches!

Paid for by st Louisians against trenches, right wing billionaires, treasurer.

Nice cut and paste.

Do it again! It's working! Everybody cares about your ideas and agrees with your politics that Rex dictates, pat!

Vote NO on the black bullet line.

Ridiculous and wasteful idea, a traffic nightmare, and will be unsightly as hell once the power lines are installed. Take a scenic municipality like Kansas City, slash a jagged scar across its face with 19th Century technology, and you get 6 to 10 MPH transportation, all for what will no doubt end up costing taxpayers north of a billion before everything is said and done.

You're at it early and incoherently today, Mensa Boy (7:51-7:56). Is three posts in five minutes your record?

It's not that mass-transit is a bad idea in itself, it's that black people will ruin it. Just like everything else they touch.

Let's not overlook the operating and maintenance costs of a "streetcar system". There isn't a streetcar system in the USA that is making money or breaking even.

Portland is dense, safe, white and tries desperately to do things that are environmentally sustainable, even if it means the trip takes twice as long.

KC has tremendous sprawl and has areas you wouldn't want to be caught dead in after 10 pm butting up right against decent, even desirable neighborhoods.

The genie was out of the bottle on KC decades ago in terms of embracing a sprawling car culture.

Now the smartest men in the room think that they can undo all these factors with a single silver bullet solution, to basically WILL the city into being what they desire, when cheaper and more viable options have not even been earnestly attempted (an extensive bike lane approach and an upgrade of the bus system).

And they're willing to bankrupt the city to take this gamble, and remain SMUGLY condescending when reasonable questions are asked.

VOTE THE FUCKER DOWN!!! GET TO THE POLLS, because you know that the same idiots who extended the e-tax will be there supporting this latest lunacy.

Read Barbara Shelly's article on Freedom Inc. and streetcar. That's the kind of idiocy that is on the opposition.

Unfortunately there are a whole lot of "Babs" in this town who will get out to the polls and vote for the streetcar.
Think vapid Boomer broads brought up on decades of infinite growth economic worship and mindless consumer-bot programming. To them the streetcar is just another shiny bauble to take their minds off their dreadful lives, cost not even factoring into their 'reasoning' if you can call it that.

Leave it to the new CK Idiocracy crowd to propose a half billion transportation fiasco when all that's necessary is upgrading our bus fleet and redeploying our existing resources in an effective manner.

But 3:03, the bus fleet isn't trendy and the wannabe urbanite wankers don't feel cool on the bus. The toy train is gonna be super neato!
