Kansas City Firefighter Family Lawsuit Following Deadly Alternation With KCPD

A Kansas City post-fight inevitability we've been expecting for a while and well-timed with the Pitch article this week . . .

NBC Action News: "The family of a firefighter shot in downtown Kansas City last December has filed a wrongful death suit in Jackson County court."

There's never any telling what can happen inside a courtroom BUT KCPD defenders feel confident that video of the plaintiff punching a cop improves their odds.

  1. Your wrong Tony the cop was all wrong it's ok to be blind drunk in this town, smack people around if you marry a fucking lawyer

  2. I guess it is OK to smack people around. Cops do it here all the time.

  3. The audio/video that the public has yet to see shows a totally different picture, according to experts.

Anyone stupid enough to take the police version would be a fool. There is usually a totally different "real story" not the glossed over one that PD likes to run out. It comes from the FBI model.

While this fire dude may have been a total douche bag, evidence indicates the off duty cop broke multiple KCPD regulations and went rogue.

A jury of peers will hopefully see all the evidence, evidence that TKC and the bear have not seen and then they can hand out some justice....

    1. What KCPD regulations did he break?
The guy was cleared by a Grand Jury, they seen all of the "secret" evidence you talk about.

  4. The lawsuit says that Bruno got on top of the officer "to gain control of the situation." Let them try to convince a jury of that. What a joke! It just goes to show you that an ignorant man comes from an ignorant family and marries an ignorant woman.

While the Polar Bear and I disagree on many things. We agree on many more.

    This is one of them.

Two wrongs don't make a right unless a cop is involved.

  7. The things you people say on here! I don't know you but the heartless comments you make on this blog show your true character. Obviously it's easy to hide behind this thing but come on! We all have a family, mom, son or daughter who may not be perfect.

  8. I suggest it might be a bit ignorant to judge how this thing will go before hearing and seeing the evidence. I imagine a local jury can sort it all out. Given that Mr. Bruno is an attorney and knows the odds I'm holding out until I see what she's got.

  9. This is a "who cares" sort of scenario... bully cop kills fireman, jackass fireman kills cop, does it really matter to anyone other than the few family members directly affected, both departments have become the home of those who cant get along anywhere else.

  10. if you don't want to get shot do what we say. its that easy. give a cop a reason and it'll be taken.

  12. The cop was/is a careere US Decorited Marine, and he exculated the whole thing and then when the fire fighter gave up, the ego cop jumped over the fire fighter bring his knee down on the neck and head of the fire fighter causing the fire fighter to defend himself for his own life. What is truly bad is the cop was off duty in a uniform with a gun supplied and paid for by we the KC tax payer, so now we the tax payer will pay the legal bills to support the cops off duty job and I bet we offer a settlement or worst the City looses in court and we the KC tax payer pay the judgement. Now this cop being a soldier got his ass kicked by a drunk fire fighter and the only way for the cop/ marine to win was go to war with his gun provided by the tax payer. Wow this cop has judgement after death and we will see how that works out for him, as we know how it has worked out for the fire fighter and the tax payer, we helped the cop and his part time employer use our property free of liability. This was war like and we are seeing our law enforcement officers kill more and more every week and get excused.

  15. For you dumb asses that don't know shit about controlling violent, drunk pieces of shit, the officer was moving to the head to gain better control. He did not try to knee him in the head. That's an incidental consequence of fighting a uniformed police officer. If he would have complied with the officer's commands, the situation would not have escalated to the point he was justifiably killed. Who in their right mind thinks it's okay to punch a uniformed officer in the face. He got what he deserved.

  16. 8:43 know the facts before you spout off about things you do not know. You and we the tax payer doesn't supply the weapon, each officer buys their gun with their own money. The city has not paid for a handgun used by an officer in this city since 1993. When they transitioned from the 38 to the semi, each officer has purchased their own weapon. Learn the facts before running off at the mouth.

  17. Hell his ole lady was probably the one who told him to run in the first place before the cops got there. I have had to deal with mean drunks they say ok I give and when you back off they attack. Mean combative drunks need to be in cuffs. Mean combative drunks will seldom just give up.The fireman and his ole lady fucked up the cop fucked up in some ways so to me an even wash of the incident. Game over, time to go home.

  18. I just love the wannabe cops that come on here and tell everyone else how full of shit they are.

  19. That fire fighter was off duty when he fought a cop who was on duty...Fire fighters need to realize that just because you are on the fire service, you still have to follow the law! and anyone else that would have fought a police officer, the out come in that situation would be the same, I doubt that cop asked while that FF stiffed a cab driver and tried to fight a cop if he was on the fire service. you people need to try and understand public service, they have a job to do....so lets back up the job they do... a drunk as FF tried to fight a cop...and he lost!!! get over it!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. FF's are so full of themselves and while at times your job makes a difference, dollar for dollar,, you cost us a fortune for just being available IF something happens.... in the rual setting they do that to, but they do it for free!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Well I wouldnt want to see any public service nigger die in the line of duty...I will however crack a beer when A FF takes a dirt nap, just a bunch of whinny ass pussies who demands glory for doing less than anyone else that beats the streets everyday does and works hard to make a living! And by beating
the streets I mean everyone who gets up in the morning and beats the street to get to their job.

  22. Ok FF's would love to hear your response on 11:40's post...bet ya wont though because you are drunk or high or cheating on your wife or girlfriend OR trying to put a tampon in...we get it, we got it, and next time when you are off duty wearing a Fire shirt, we know who to stay the hell away from:) Morons!

  23. Roofers and construction workers have a MUCH more dangerous job than either cops or firefighters.....

    Look it it up....

    Nobody naming highways after them.....

  24. @2:55 They do in Mexico.

  25. The cop may have broken regulations but the regulations he broke were there to protect him (and the city's workers comp premiums). I for one want cops to chase down criminals even if it means breaking regulations designed to make their job less dangerous.

Has the cop countersued for damages since he was severely injured?

  26. It wouldn't surprise me that the FD and FD union is paying her lawyers using taxpayer money.

  27. The FF was a dirtbag. I've heard over and over from people he went to HS with and his neighborhood that he was a thug. His reactions show this. A good indicator is the number of FF who did not attend his funeral. (normally, when a FF dies, there are thousands of FF who show up to "honor" him)...didn't happen this time, did it? Says a lot.

Bunch of google geniuses in here.... Where do you all get your information from? I don't agree with anything Bruno did but wow... These are the people I signed up to help.... You guys seem like great people. Thanks for the 22 year extension on the fire sales tax I appreciate it. Should last me all the way until I retire!
