FEAR THE SECRET VOTE ON THE UPCOMING MIDTOWN KANSAS CITY TAX DISTRICT!!!

Midtown Kansas City residents are being taxed to death and here's another example of LOCAL SECRET TAXES up for a write-in "vote" but not really and more accurately imposed with the collusion of local biz  . . .

To wit . . .

IN THIS DIGITAL MEDIA AGE . . . PUBLIC NEWSPAPER NOTICE IN AN UNREAD DEAD TREE MEDIA CLASSIFIED SECTION IS A NASTY WAY TO IMPOSE ANOTHER LEVY ON KANSAS CITY RESIDENTS!!!

It's a rigged process that should be put down . . . Here's the word . . .

ALERT!! SALES TAX INCREASE for 50th and MAIN / South Plaza

"Our PAC, Citizens for Responsible Government, has been alerted to this notice which appeared in the Friday morning KC Star on the Classified page. It is difficult to figure out exactly where this taxing district is but we felt it was worth mentioning. We are faced with several potential tax increases, streetcars, light rail, roads, etc. To add another 1% on top could push the tax rate up to one of the highest in the country. If you live in the 50th and Main area, we thought you should be aware. Plus we believe this sets up a dangerous precedent where a developer passes maintenance costs onto the taxpayers shopping in that area through a sales tax!"

Photo proof . . .

More confusion . . .

  1. A developer? It's a tax that existimg business owners, part of the district, are pushing for to make improvements in their district.

If residents want a better area around 50 and Main they can pay for it.

What's the issue? It'll attract ferals? Right.

  2. It's beyound comical to watch one neighborhood after another in KCMO get all excited passing CIDs and other types of taxing districts to "improve" services in their areas.
They might ask themselves what exactly happens to all the e-tax, sales tax, and property tax money that they already pay to the city and why they have to tax themselves again for what residents of other communities receive for the regular taxes they pay.
And they need to look no further than glamor projects and other toys like the streetcar and elected officials who have little engagement or even interest in the actual functioning of a real city government.
The folks at 12th and Oak will have everyone looking between their sofa cushions before Sly's done.
