Fast food workers ask for higher wages and better treatment

Deets:

Fast food workers around Kansas City joined others around the nation to protest and celebrate a federal agency’s decision to hold McDonald’s as liable for employees as the franchises they work for.

A group of nearly 50 fast food workers from the metro marched to the McDonald’s and Wendy’s near Troost Avenue on Friday.

They held signs reading, “You Can’t Hide,” referring to the decision holding McDonald’s Corporation responsible for employee’s actions.

  1. Fast food will automate just like Chili's.

Fewer people will be hired and that, in conjunction with the millions of illegal immigrants seeking fast food jobs will kill even more opportunity for more folks already here to work.

Ya gotta have skills Napolean. You can vote for Pedro's amnesty and protection all day, in the end, if you can't do more than punch a picture of a hamburger on a flat screen, you don't deserve the money. They really do train chimpanzees to hit pictures with their fingers to aquire treats.

It's called pricing yourself right out of a job but the hand held out for freebies and lazy ones can't figure that out.

  6. Fifty workers out of several thousand workers does not win a raise or get a union. The day folks have to pay $2.50 for a McDonald's hamburger is the day Mickey D's is out of business. With the wholesale price of burger spiking at over $4.00 a pound the timing is terrible. This is just another sign that the economy isn't close to being right after the crash of 2008. Everytime one of these unskilled workers hits the grocery store, needs a doctor or has a car break they get that even a substantial raise is not going to overcome the present rate of inflation on basic goods and services that no one can do without. It wont get better unless we can get a handle on runaway prices and I haven't seen one expert that has a formula to fix that.
