Like him or not, Catholic League honcho Bill Donohue shares some facts about the ineptitude of Dead Tree Media advocacy in his latest e-mail blast: "The Star has been waiting for a long time: this is its sixth call for Finn's resignation in three years. They must be slow learners—few seem to care what it says."

He is an idiot, but he is right. Bishop Finn is not going to resign because some rag of a newspaper says so.

ReplyDeleteI'm not sure the Catholic church actually responds to criticism from the laity. These are the folks who brought us the middle ages!
ReplyDeleteWeathered the molestations of children all over the world, collected lots of money and sent it back to Rome. They run their schools the way they want and the clergy don't answer to anybody but their higher ups.
Its not that few people CARE what the Church does or who's wearing the robes, it's that the Church doesn't care what they think.
This church is bigger than its members and everyone knows it's not a democracy. Never was.
This new pope is shaking a few things up and I like him, but you'll notice he's not asked for a show of hands on what the Church should do.
Wonder if the Church is smart enough to choose the next guy who's both enlightened and also young enough to stick around awhile? Feebleness is not the same as godlyness.
