Mayor Sly James Seyz: "I welcome the challenge. It's just that simple. I'll let my record stand on its own. We've been involved in early childhood education more than any other administration in this entire city, including the one he was a part of when he was a councilman. Crime: Homicides are down, much more than they were when he was a councilman.
"We have done a lot in terms of continuing to build on Downtown Kansas City. We have downtown starter line streetcar. Economic development is moving.

"I'll stand on what we've done and I'm ready for the challenge."

ReplyDeleteIts my understanding that homicides are being calculated differently. Prior to that, there was not a significant annual decrease.
ReplyDeleteWe've also seen an uptick in youth violence on the Plaza. I like many things about this mayor, but it's very telling that the three thing he would tout are his three weaknesses. Urban core crime, education, and wasting limited shared resources on a controversial streetcar that was snuck through in a little under a month by mail in ballot.

The majority of the previous comments are accurate as to what he has been for KC.
