TKC SOCIAL MEDIA REVIEW: NOBODY LIKES KANSAS CITY NEXTDOOR INTERNETS SITE!!!

The reviews are in and Mayor Sly & Co have made another serious Internets miscalculation . . .

KANSAS CITY RESIDENTS HATE NEXTDOOR AND NOBODY SEEMS TO BE USING IT!!!

Sure, Nextdoor has some good reviews but this effort is mostly wasted energy against vibrant local communities already set up on facebook and other Internets networks . . .

There's a lot of reasons for this but here are some of my favorite:

- It's e-mail based and I think it wants your SS# before you can post anything.

- Facebook is easier

- Nobody's using it

- Did I mention that Facebook was easier???

Anyhoo, here's a bit more about YET ANOTHER FAILED SOCIAL MEDIA EFFORT FOR MAYOR SLY & Co . . .

Northeast News: City officials announced at a press conference its plan to join the private social network website Nextdoor. The website is designed to improve communication at the neighborhood level. The city manger, police department and the mayor’s office will all have accounts on the website to share information regarding public safety issues, community meetings and neighborhood services specific to Kansas City neighborhoods enrolled in the website.

The city and several officials are already represented on other social media outlets such as Facebook and Twitter.

And once again, what's nice about this effort is that Mayor Sly has used the Internet to avoid most public interaction or criticism in the real world . . .

Developing . . .

  3. It (nextdoor) was fine until the City just barged into the scene.

  4. facebook is easier, is already set up, and you can belong to multiple communities without having to verify your address 3 ways...

  5. No, you don't have to enter your S.S. number

  6. The site sucks because the power hungry little fucktards from the neighbourhood associations have jumped on to stake claim and have fucked it all up with their power hungry bullshit and alerts.

  8. Just like the site selection process in the East Patrol, City creates a bogus website to encourage participation but the challenge is that many urban dwellers simply do not use the computer or social networking tools. City's suggestion that this is somehow a tool of engagement for the demographic it serves is a sham.

The whole three people who even engage the neighborhood associations and attend meetings on a regular basis does not support an endeavor of this size. Because of the things mentioned by 10:23AM, neighbor nextdoor serves no viable purpose. It's just another place for neighborhood, power-hungry hacks go to bleed the unconscious.

  10. The real question someone should ask is who owns this private social network and how much $$$ did they give Sly to push this on KC. Or is Sly a silent partner?

    Follow the money.

    Mr. Tony,
This Webby site is perfect for KC. You can act like you give a crap, not really interact with your neighbors and then the crazies that hold long boring meetings can trash up your inbox with esoteric jibber jabber. Fantastic!
