POWER BROKER BILL NIGRO HAS ALWAYS BEEN AN ENEMY OF HIP-HOP AND RAP MUSIC IN WESTPORT AND NOW HE'S LAUNCHING A FULL OUT ASSAULT ON THE RECENT "URBANIZATION" OF WESTPORT CROWDS!!!
Some call it a public safety issue and commend Mr. Nigro on his continued investment in the party district.
Meanwhile . . . Others contend that hip-hop and rap music is not the root of Westport's problem. And recent Westport troublemakers aren't patrons of Gusto or any other party district bar for that matter. Whatever the case, ask many local musicans around town who KNOW FOR A FACT THAT BILL NIGRO IS ANYTHING BUT A RAP MUSIC FAN!!!
Mr. Nigro rarely goes on record with his hip-hop criticism but we wonder about the similarities betwixt his hip-hop crackdown and those City Hall "dumb cards" that have proven to the be bane of Westport businessman's existence.

As someone who's spent many years working in Westport, I can't say (if this is even more than just a rumor) Bill's not completely wrong about this one. While it's true that many different kinds of people enjoy hip hop, the majority of violence that I'VE WITNESSED has come from the hoodrat crowd, and let's face, they aren't listening to Tom Waits. The fact that this man is trying to do what he can to make Westport as safe a party place as it can be (and to be honest, I can't believe I'm standing up for the guy), is not the problem. Everyone in KC knows you stay the fuck out of the Eastside if you value your life. Period. Our public schools have failed us for DECADES, leaving us now to deal with the uneducated, aggressively inclined, fight starting, girlfriends'-ass grabbing, shit talking, gun toting, non-tipping, no-respect having, empty-shells of 'men' and 'women' that are drawn to these environments. Sadly, one bad apple indeed can spoil the bunch. One (even tho it's actually many in this case) individual CAN fuck it up for the rest. So, albeit awkwardly, I tip my hat to little Billy, and while I do, I encourage all of you to remember to not take things at face value, but to find the root. The quest for happiness is the motivation for any person's actions, ever. Parenting and education, community and understanding, these are the cracks in our foundation as a city. If we don't start some repairs soon kids, the whole fucking house is gonna come a tumblin' down. 1

ReplyDeleteMy kid has gone to Westport many times (Was there the night the boy was killed at the gas station.) and he tells me (I know this is anecdotal.) that the place is a time bomb and the blacks are grabbing girls asses, insulting, loud and aggressive just waiting for the chance to fight. I begged him to quit going there and he tells me he has, I hope he is telling me the truth.

Why do people try to analyze everything to death when the truth stares them in the face? Negroes, especially the "club-going" types, bring trouble with them wherever they go. Like another poster said, if whites go into any area or establishment that is known to be dominated by coloreds, they deserve whatever they get.
