TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS CALL OUT KANSAS CITY MAYOR SLY STAFFER PRIVILEGE @ JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE CONCERT LAST NIGHT!!!
This morning let's take a moment of pause to consider Kansas City politicos COMPED at all of this town's best events.
To wit . . .
RIGHT NOW A KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTER CALLS OUT THE SPECIAL PRIVILEGES OF THE MAYOR'S PEEPS @ LAST NIGHT'S JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE SPRINT CENTER CONCERT!!!
Here's the word . . .
"TKC, I noticed that Mayoral aides Larissa W. and Jim G.were at Justin Timberlake tonight. The mayoral and city council staff often use free tickets from the city--which seems like a form of largesse to me. Jim G. also had free tickets to Cher and Madonna. Cindy Circo is another "frequent flyer" in the free Sprint Center seats. I also often see these folks at Starlight performances--again, with comped tickets. Particularly with a show like Cher, which sold out, it seems really unfair."
##########
There have been problems with these freebie seats before and most Kansas City Insiders kinda resent the freebie perk of elected office.
TKC FUN FACT: THE VERY BEST KANSAS CITY FREEBIE TICKETS HAVE INSPIRED A MENTION FROM NO LESS THAN HALF-A-DOZEN CITY COUNCIL CONTENDERS WHEN IT COMES TO THE REAL MOTIVATION IN THEIR RUN FOR OFFICE!!! THE SEATS ARE REALLY QUITE NICE!!!
(TKC Full Disclosure . . . Your least favorite blogger has enjoyed the sweet Mayoral/City Council Sprint Center luxury box no less than three times.)
Sadly, this Kansas City ticket comping isn't going to stop any time soon but the perk remains a constant complaint among the local elite who don't like their good times ruined by having to share the VIP rooms with smarmy politicos.
More a bit later in the morning . . .
Better title: Mayor Sly is surprisingly perky!
ReplyDeleteTryin to imagine something sadder than an adult whining about how "unfair" it is that somebody else got to go see a has been lip sync.
ReplyDeleteI mean, fucking Cher? Jesus, try to have some semblance of pride.
The endless freebies are not as annoying as the fact that Killer City and its counties, like many other big cities, has a routine practice of "fixing" parking and speeding tickets for local politicos.
ReplyDeleteWhen you read about one of these fat-ass clowns getting busted for driving drunk or stoned, everyone understands that it only happened because said politico had pissed off somebody important. Normally a drunk big shot gets quietly driven home.
Do they pay taxes on these tickets? Do the Jackson County pols pay taxes on the value of their sports stadium suites? I doubt they could ever afford the taxes.

ReplyDelete640 FTW
ReplyDelete6:40 FTW +2
ReplyDeleteAgreed, I have absolutely no problem with this with the complete understanding that they will be taking seats to see the shittiest examples of pop culture recital polyps.
ReplyDeleteWhen the Royals make the World Series, and those goober idiots are in the crown seats checking their phones and hair, THEN I will be pissed.
7:16 AM
ReplyDeleteIn fairness, there are no Jackson County Suites or seats at the Sports Complex.
Furthermore, County Ethics rules forbid county employees from accepting free tickets to events.
That is not to say that I have not seen a County official or employee being hosted by a law firm or the teams -- but it is a violation worthy of formal complaint. (Jackson County Parks and Recreation Director Michele Newman is a prime offender.)
The city on the other encourages its officials, staff and other employees to behave like swine at a feeding lot.
The Council, Political Staff and senior employees receive tickets from the facilities on a regular basis.
This transfer of "things of value" from a public entity amounts to a kickback because these same public operatives decide the budget and general operating policies of the facilities.
Surprisingly, the kickbacks of tickets to city officials and personnel extends to the Jackson County Sports Complex. Although, the county holds primary oversight responsibilities for the Sports Authority, the city kicks in several million dollars a year in operating funds. So when Council members and others receive free tickets to football games etc., these gifts qualify for the definition of a kickback.
From seats that I pay for out of my own pocket, I see Cindy Circo and Jim Glover at every Chief's Game and I will be very surprised if they can present a receipt for the purchase of season tickets at the public sale price.
It is amazing that city officials, staff and other employees can convince themselves that there is nothing wrong with this graft.
Perhaps if Mr. Giles lost his job and went to prison for bribery it would bring home the reality of the situation?

ReplyDeleteWould the free seats to the All Star Game that the City Council received qualify?
at 100-200 bucks a ticket it seems to me KC built the cronies a really nice arena....suckers!!!
ReplyDeleteJim Giles needs something to do with his time in the evenings since the County Legislature pandered to the prudes and closed down the video arcades and gloryholes at Erotic City.
ReplyDeleteJim Giles used to spend many a happy and sperm splattered hour in the "Giles Suite" of Erotic City. No more!
So if Giles now gets his rocks off watching the lip sync set at Sprint Center, I suppose that the Centers for Disease Control will vouch for the change.
7:58 has a point concerning the state and federal prohibitions against bribes and kickbacks.
ReplyDeleteWhen JaxCo hack Michelle Newman accepts a "graft seat" does she insist on the seat being painted pink and the bill being sent to the tax payers for payment -- like her office?
ReplyDeleteWhich would you oh so moral assholes rather have? Should I attend events using seats reserved for public officials as part of our oversight function? Or should I attend the same event as the guest of a special interest group which might bring business before the City in the future?
ReplyDeleteAre you saying you would not gripe about the latter?
My God people get a life! Make friends with reality! You really need to get out more.
8:47 How was the show?
ReplyDeleteIf Michelle Newman placed her saggy/dirty ass in a seat at Arrowhead I want it painted pink so I know never to sit in that chair again.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't take much to figure out who your tipster is....considering they were in the city seats as well.... For free
ReplyDelete8:56 AM You mean "How was the show, Cindy?"
ReplyDeleteIs it true that the Jackson County Ethics Code bans this kind of thing? I did not know that. I am glad if that is true.
ReplyDelete8:47--as part of your oversight function? Ha, really, city employees are just there making sure the facilities are operating well? How would you know? You have a private elevator and bathroom to the suites? Oversight? Ludicrous.
ReplyDelete9:05 AM
ReplyDeleteAND the choice is between free tickets through graft and free tickets through graft!
Hey they work at City Hall so why would they think they actually had to swipe down a debit card and pay for anything?
ReplyDeleteWe vote This coming Tuesday folks.
ReplyDeleteBesides being kickbacks and bribes, they are taxable. Perhaps a visit from the IRS to help clear things up.
ReplyDeleteThe gall of our elected officials in this town would make sub-Saharan African dictators blush.
ReplyDeleteGive them a stiff middle finger on the 5th.
Hmm, well, one can say "Its only Cher" or one can think about how all of these freebies are perceived by the denizens of this city. I think this kind of crap creates a backlash about how the KC insiders follow different sets of rules than the rest of us have to follow. It certainly doesn't build trust in public officials and their staff members that is for sure.
ReplyDelete"Is it true that the Jackson County Ethics Code bans this kind of thing? I did not know that. I am glad if that is true" - Yes, that POS Sanders passed this in 2010 which punishes EVERYONE connected to the county, not just politicians. Used to be we could go to a couple of events a year as employees, now we are barred. Hurts my kids and families.
ReplyDeleteBuy a ticket like everyone else and quit crying. You get a paycheck.
ReplyDelete10:04 AM
ReplyDeleteWhat makes you special? Fuck you! My little girl does not get to see every show she wants to see. You live within your means. Fuck you. You do not deserve special treatment.
You KCMO babies. If you want to see real city and county employee entitlements for favors, stop by KCK. Fat ass employees not only get tickets for free, they drive tax payer paid cars to the events and use tax payer paid phones for selfies.
ReplyDeleteIt's a sickening sight to see them in VIP seats.
ASSHOLES!!! Can't wait to vote them ALL out.
ReplyDelete@8:47
ReplyDelete"As part of our oversight function".
Hahahahahahaha.
How about oversight of the water department?
Or isn't that as much fun to watch?
10:56 KCK event fraud...when low attendance is expected, they'll fill the event with county employees. A financial failure turns into a great success!
ReplyDeleteMichele had better be looking for a new job. Her mom looks bad. No one will fire her now because they do not want to hurt the old lady. When the old lady dies there is no reason to put up with Michele Newman.
ReplyDeleteWhat is ridiculous about the oversight function comment is that many of these tickets are given to friends and political supporters. A girlfriend of mine was a council aide about 10 years ago and she told me that political cronies and friends would call and ask for tickets all the time when a show was 'hot'. That isnt oversight that is rewarding supporters.
ReplyDeleteWhen political supporters are public employees, we have a problem with this. They vote the way they're told to keep the perks flowing.
ReplyDeleteDa Horrah! This is seriously the stuff that keeps you up at night? You have the largest tax increase in the history of MO on the ballot with MODOT's Amendment 7 and there is barely a word. You realize the taxes that the state legislature cut on the wealthy and corporations would more than cover what they want you to vote for in a regressive sales tax right? You realize that lobbyists are eliminating any user fees or toll roads for the trucking industry right? You realize only $0.67 of every dollar collected in KCMO is coming back to KCMO right? Keep guarding your plastic lawn furniture on your front lawn while the state takes everything from your house from the back door.
ReplyDeleteDon't lump all city employees into this. Trust and believe that the workers who keep the city running don't get these benefits it is the high dollar big shots who get them. The people who can afford to buy tickets get free ones not the rest of us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDelete7/31/14, 11:51 AM
ReplyDeleteShe likes to be called "Sparkle"
Now doesn't that make you throw up in your mouth a little bit?
(TKC Full Disclosure . . . Your least favorite blogger has enjoyed the sweet Mayoral/City Council Sprint Center luxury box no less than three times.)
ReplyDeleteWHAT???>??!!!
Tony, have you crossed over?
Perks for elected officials--meh. The real crime against taxpayers is that Jackson County legislators' aides don't have to go to work to pick up a check--like Bishop Tindall's new gig--no work, but you get paid. And a car if you are lucky. The STAR needs to get on this.
ReplyDeleteThe City has a block of Chiefs tickets in Section 136, 45 yard line, in the sun, about 15 rows up, behind the visitors bench. I have seen City pols there for 25 years. They are leach, cheap fucks too.
ReplyDeleteWas former Mayor Barnes there in her free suite too?
