TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! CRITICS CALL OUT CONTROVERSIAL KCFD SHERWOOD SMITH CAMPAIGN LIT!!!

Take a look at the Jackson County Democratic Primary heating up amid what could be a rather SHOCKING campaign faux pas for contender Sherwood Smith.

Check it:

KICK-ASS JACKSON COUNTY INSIDERS CRY FOUL OVER SHERWOOD SMITH CAMPAIGN LIT THAT MIGHT VIOLATE NEW MISSOURI RULES!!!

Here's the word . . .

INAPPROPRIATE SHERWOOD SMITH MAILER

Here is the pic Sherwood is using that is being referenced in labor circles of uniform KCPD officers and Emergency Personnel. This is a huge mistake by Sherwood's campaign because it has potentially put the jobs of these uniformed men and women on the line since state law prohibits Kansas city uniformed officers and emergency personnel from being on literature or promoting a candidate or party.

Here is the bill that went into effect at the end of August 2013

Penalty is termination, loss of retirement, fine of up to $500 and even up to 6 months in jail.

There is even talk that endorsements would have to be pulled if brought out in public.

UPDATE: READ THE RESPONSE FROM SHERWOOD SMITH SUPPORTERS ON THIS TOPIC!!!

Hey - I'm a single issue voter - what are his views on unsolicited bulk e-mail?

Fucking niggers do not care about anything or anyone but themselves. They're just barely above single-celled germs and much more damaging.

The issue is not about the campaign material. All any of the folks in the photo have to say is they did not consent top the use of their likeness and case closed. Where the question lies is whether the folks in that photo were campaigning when they posed behind Smith. I think the state law requires more than their presence at an event. So good luck finding a violation. I ain't saying it is right....I'm just sayin' it ain't no crime whet these folks did.

It violates the Federal Hatch Act, this is not a small matter if White or someone pursues it.

Anonymous said...

It's not even close to a Hatch Act violation. The picture was not from a political function, but a public safety event way prior to the candidate's announcement. Both departments could request the picture be replaced, but in no way could any individual employee be held responsible for the use of their likeness. Get your facts straight, and learn the law.

Agree that this is not a violation of any law. However, it shows Mr. Smith's extreme lack of political skill, or worse, disregard for those pictured. The photo is positioned in the context of a political message, inferring everyone pictured is supporting him politically. His political operatives should know better, but they're a pretty naive bunch.

Current law prohibits a Kansas City officer or employee from soliciting any person to vote for or against a candidate for public office, "poll precincts", or be connected with similar political work for a political organization, party, or candidate. Under this act, those activities are only prohibited while the officer or employee is on duty or in uniform.

Tony, you are an asshole and with just a little checking you could have dug up the truth. That would not have benefitted your site. Now the conspiracy theorists have more to spew about. The photo was taken in July of 2009 as the Governor signed HB 580. Anyone could have found it with just a little work. He hasn't been campaigning for 5 years.

Reading can be a problem for some. Re-read the law and also interpret.

sounds like a hit piece to me. the only uniformed officer is clearly there to guard the guy giving the speech and only KC is visible behind him.

The campaign poster also seems to be well written, rational, centrist and not at all misspelled.

I noticed nearly everybody who is anybody has endorsed Smith. Don't know much about the guy but he seems on the up and up if this is all they can complain about.

7:16 is not lying. I was at this signing and it was about HB580. I will not be voting for Sherwood, however. His,political skills were taught by a lowlife, snake.

They were fired. MAST no longer exists. The people in the gray uniforms are MAST employees

Good try. The law also says this Current law prohibits a Kansas City officer or employee from soliciting any person to vote for or against a candidate for public office, "poll precincts", or be connected with similar political work for a political organization, party, or candidate. Under this act, those activities are only prohibited while the officer or employee is on duty or in uniform.
