TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! SHOCK!!! KANSAS CITY CITY TOY TRAIN STREETCAR SPEAKERS STAND DOWN @ CITIZENS ASSOCIATION MEETING TONIGHT!!!

Tonight there's another indication of Kansas City controversy and push back for the toy train streetcar.

Check it:

KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS TELL US THAT TONIGHT'S KANSAS CITY CITIZENS ASSOCIATION MEETUP INCLUDED AN EPIC DUST-UP WHEREIN ACCUSATIONS WENT FLYING AND STREETCAR SPEAKERS DECLINED TO MAKE THEIR PRESENTATION!!!

Remember that we had a bit or preview to this event yesterday . . .

But now . . .

COUNCIL LADY JAN MARCASON AND STREETCAR LAWYER DUDE DOUG STONE DIDN'T WANT TO TALK TO THE CITIZENS ASSOCIATION TONIGHT!!!

Behind the scenes, the allegations insinuations hurt feelings are over the PERCEPTION that Citizens Association leader Dan Cofran is already in the bag for the toy train streetcar opposition.

There was behind the scenes chatter about some radio appearance or whatever . . . Is it possible that toy train streetcar cheerleaders are confusing Dan Cofran with Dan Coffey???

To be fair . . . Insiders point out that Mr. Cofran hasn't declared his allegiance or opposition to the streetcar even though we all think he's gonna try to be Mayor again.

But here's where it gets even better . . .

KANSAS CITY INSIDERS CLAIM THAT RECENTLY COUNCIL LADY JAN MARCASON AND DOUG STONE WERE SUBJECT TO A PUBLIC SMACKDOWN FROM PLAZA HIGH RISE DENIZENS AGAINST HIGHER TAXES AND THEY DIDN'T WANT A REPEAT OF THE PUBLIC HUMILIATION!!!

We might never know what motivates toy train streetcar cheerleaders other than consulting contracts and/or the love of Mayor Sly . . . But here's what we're reporting for certain. . .

Citizens Association denizens didn't take kindly to the smack in the face from Marcason and Stone . . .

Update: And to make all of this even more confusing, we hear that some of the hateration is related to the ambulance-billing hot mess too...

Meanwhile, yet another community meeting ends divisively on the topic of Kansas City transit.

Developing . . .

  3. Dan Cofran lost his marbles some time ago...too bad, but he's a lunatic now.

  4. Lot's of Plaza residents (taxpayers and business people) pissed off about this toy train boondoggle tax scheme don't kid yourself.

If all you read is Dave Johnson's idiotic moron twitter toy train marketing feed you'd never know it though.

  5. I'd like to see an epic smack down - like viewing Marcason and Stone's faces after they are smacked upside th heqd with a carp from the Missouri River that has sat in the sun for a day and a half. Or any "fresh" fish sold at the oriental food store in River Msrket. Same thing. No one wants this boondoggle of a streetcar - except those wanting to line their own pockets with taxpayer cash. Get it, Jan?

  9. Yeah, TKC was so wrong, the convention is coming to KC, right

    Didn't think so.

As for the train. Just another KCMO ripoff.

    ReplyDelete
  10. The streetcar will be sly James' Waterloo. Just watch.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Stone is alright, it's Jan who is the nitwit.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Stone is one of the assholes behind this scam and attorney for the TDD.

In other words he's the enemy.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Can't they tweak the Plaza out of the TDD so they can't Vote no?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Nope to late for tweaking and engineering. Although knowing the way these fuckers operate they might actually try it.

    ReplyDelete
  15. What we know about Sly is that he will avoid a fight with whites, he only shows his real strength when it comes to selling out his own community.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Sounds like something our spineless media could have covered, instead of last nights ongoing coverage of a stuck amusement park ride in California.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Stine argued to city's position to Judge Roldan; property value, not people, is all that matters. He's just doing his job and he's good at it, but don't think for one second that it's motivated by anything other than money.

  18. As Seen On The Web

"Do you remember downtown/crossroads before 2000? It was a dump and dead after 5. How did it become the vibrant community full of art and cool bars and restaurants that it is today? Not by dumping $500 million into toy trains."

    ReplyDelete
  19. And this is how KC became Detroit.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Judge Roldan, we're screwed.

    ReplyDelete
  21. 7:44

Tony is the ONLY guy in town actually kicking over rocks to see what kind of bullshit the swells are getting ready to ram up our ass. He may or may not draw the right conclusions, but he is the ONLY real game in town when it comes to finding out what is going on behind closed ciy hall doors.

"We might never know what motivates toy train streetcar cheerleaders other than consulting contracts and/or the love of Mayor Sly . . . But here's what we're reporting for certain. . ."

    Dead on the money.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Doug Stone is a BULLY!

    ReplyDelete
  23. How do the TDD folks hope to win votes by slapping the Citizens Assn Executive Board in the face? That is childish behavour by Mr. Stone and he should be let go by the campaign immediately. Ms. Marcason should get better friends. She's really a nice lady who let's these fat lawyer types push her around. Stand up for yourself Jan! Be your own woman! Quit being used, your better than that!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Because the streetcar is a scam and everyone knows about it is done! Vote NO on all city issues August 5th.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I live on the Plaza, and like many other people in KC, the only thing about the streetcar that makes me mad is that its taken this long to get rail transit built in this otherwise kick-ass little town.

Obviously the comment section here disagrees, but many, many, many people in KC feel just like I do. I have no idea if its a majority, or how it will fair at the ballot box, but neither do any of you. We tend to hear mostly from people who already agree with us and think the whole world is exactly like us, but its not that way.

We disagree, and that's fine. Some of you, very few, have some reasonable objections. Its clear most of you don't know much about the project or public transit, and are just knee-jerk reacting or outright trolling, but those of you with actual objections to the plan should probably pause to consider that not everyone thinks like you, even if everyone you know does. Because you don't know everyone.

    Sincerely,
    MaryLynne M.

    ReplyDelete
  27. And MaryLynne M, the big objection is that this is a big tax grab for a project whose premise is based in technology utilized almost a century ago. Which was determined to be obsolete by KC back in the 1960's. Studies of streetcar transit in comparable cities show that it is a sucking vortex of taxpayer funds always operating at an extreme loss. Light rail is worth paying for - not streetcar technology.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Dear MaryLynne: If you want to pay hire sales tax 11 or 12% and higher rents and property tax that's fine, but why are you asking people that make a fraction of your income and live miles from the line pay for your toy train? I can only surmise that you basically do not care about those less fortunate than you, who cannot afford to live on the Plaaaza...

    ReplyDelete
  29. paying "hire" sales taxes? hahahaha

    illiterate mouth breather, jesus

    ReplyDelete
  30. MaryLynne obviously not from here M.
Get a clue. Every single time lightrail or streetcar lands on the ballot voters give it a big no vote. We don't want to pay more for a train when we can pay less for a bus.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I was at the Plaza high rise meeting. It was very cordial and informative. People asked a lot of questions about the tax rate and what is going to happen if both the MoDot and Streetcar passed. That part takes a little explaining. There was certainly no "smackdown". Hyperbole much? (rhetorical ?)

    ReplyDelete
  32. If all these people want a streetcar let them invest their money in a company to own and operate the streetcar, just like a airline.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Jan Marcanson is as dumb as a box of rocks, I live in her neighborhood and just found out she voted to close our fire truck down. Her own fire truck. What the hell was she thinking!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. She doesn't care about BASIC CITY SERVICES! She works for her ex hubby and his special interests.

  34. 11:14,

Is that how you think airlines are paid for?

That's precious. Is that how they pay for roads too? Ahahahahahahahahahahaha! Too cute? Are you in elementary school?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Voter suppression at its finest! They better hope the electioneering pays off.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Jan should be ashamed of herself, they should fire their strategist immediately. An insult to the citizens of KC.

    ReplyDelete
  37. What sly to busy to show up and yell at the crowed? They had to send a fill in bully.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Damn I need glasses

    ReplyDelete
  39. Jan needs to stop following the crowd and Sly. However she is term limited and can afford to piss off her constituents by the taking an unpopular position. We better not see her again in 2016 Mayoral race!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Personally, i think they need to put this train nonsense on Linwood. doesn't the plaza already have enough?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Personally I think they should put this train nonsense out of its misery.

And yes, the Plaza has enough. If there's one place in this town that has more than enough transit, it's the Plaza.

    And remember: buses are transit.

    ReplyDelete
  42. But there are poor people and black people on the bus. Only nice hipsters will be on the train.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Doug Stone is a BULLY!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Mensa Man lives in Platte County right? Is he going to move into the taxpayer disaster district special assessment zone and ride the cable cars to work?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Kansas City Development Attorney Doug Stone Joins Husch Blackwell’s Real Estate Team

And this slime bag is going to be one the people in charge of the TDD?

    Wake up people

    ReplyDelete
  46. Somebody in Brookside needs to look up "voter supression" before they use that phrase again...

Maybe Pat "suddenly interested in poor people and the east side" Touhey should be careful about pretending (on the internet and in person) to be speaking for the interests of midtown and the east side.

Not a single one of the shrinking/shrieking anti-streetcar cabal lives in the TDD, unless you count Stadler and Bushnell, and those two have about as much truck in the community as Paddy's puppetmaster Rex.

The Show Me shadow groups have NEVER done a thing for the east side or midtown except try to bankrupt them by running a multi million dollar campaign against the etax (that went down in flames). The have NEVER done a thing for transit of any sort, ESPECIALLY buses. And they have NEVER had the proxy or the support of even their own neighborhood, much less midtown and east side KC.

Now they are scrambling to try to kill the first ever MoDot investment in urban public transportation for the citizens who actually pay the taxes in this state (the CITIES) that support all the overbuilt and undermaintained infrastructure in rural and suburban Missouri. And they are scrambling to kill the LARGEST INVESTMENT IN THE EAST SIDE OF KC in its ENTIRE HISTORY.

Thanks, but no thanks Pat. You arent from here, and you don't think like people in KC do. Ditto Rex. Ditto Dan. Ditto Sue. Ditto Sherry. Go HOME carpetbaggers. And take your St Louis $$ with you.

  48. This proposed TDD is also about looting citizens and families to pay for tax abatement deals and downtown dwellers paying a yearly property tax of $300 to $500 on a $250,000 condos among other things.

  50. IF you have enough money you can probably bribe the TDD guys to cherry pick your property out of the special assessment zone. You'll need to assure your oath of silence though.

  52. "Mensa Man lives in Platte County right? Is he going to move into the taxpayer disaster district special assessment zone and ride the cable cars to work?"

He probably won't. I would imagine if the TDD passes he'll move closer to his new employer, and the toy train won't go to 92nd & Ward Parkway. If the TDD doesn't pass, maybe he'll go home to Nebraska

  53. Doug Stone has been hired by the Morningside Neighborhood Association to drum up support to set up a CID. This would impose a mandatory $125 a year in property taxes to pay for free yard waste removal for a few houses who don't want to pay their own bills. This is what Doug Stone does-he's a hired gun for any group who wants to tax everyone else for their pet projects. It will be a very small group of property owners imposing their will on the rest of the neighborhood.their rigged vote like the downtown streetcar one was with minimal participation.

    ReplyDelete
  54. That explains the guy a few weeks ago who said "everyone" in Morningside supported the streetcar.

I couldn't imagine anyone except MB boasting of 100% support for anything, and I know some people in the area who live right next to the trail, and they sure as hell don't support it.

    ReplyDelete
  55. 7/8/14, 11:14 PM you might be interested to know that that is what all this street car deal is. We the over taxed will provide the money for the rail and the initial investment and then a private group of persons will take over the management and it will be run to provide them profit.
Those who do not believe this should ask the proponents about their statements about private investment.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I'm not sure I understand this deal. An amount of money is talked about that the proponents did not want the opponents to know about. The opponents found out that the numbers were "leaked" and they got mad. I thought that Mayor James assured us that the whole process would be transparent. Was Markuson mad because the process is becoming transparent
That city hall gang have never thought that they needed to give the people any answers much less the truth.
