TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! COMING SOON: KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN STREETCAR PHASE DEUX TDD SCHEME FACES FIREFIGHTER OPPOSITION!!!

This morning our blog community is reporting Kansas City election GAME CHANGING news in the upcoming toy train streetcar TDD election.

To wit . . .

KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS WARN US OF UNPRECEDENTED FIRE FIGHTER PUSH BACK AGAINST THE TOY TRAIN STREETCAR TDD PHASE DEUX AS PAY BACK FOR MAYOR SLY AND CINDY CIRCO STATION SHUTDOWNS AND OUTSOURCING BETRAYAL!!!

Normally, the firefighters are content to stay out of these eco-devo fights but it seems that now Mayor Sly's "win at all costs" style of politics have finally earned a bit of reprisal . . . Moreover, Local firefighters are learning that Mayor Sly only understands political brute force.

To wit . . .

KANSAS CITY FIREFIGHTER OPPOSITION TO THE TOY TRAIN STREETCAR THREATENS TO STOP THE TDD RIGHT IN ITS TRACKS AND BRING THE WHOLE SCHEME TO A FULL STOP!!!

In the aftermath of station shutdowns and KCMO on the verge of piece by piece privatization of city services . . . This union organized tactical response should hit Mayor Sly like a fierce SLAP IN THE FACE.

Even better, looking at this rationally, the move makes sense . . . As Kansas City money gets tighter the firefighters can no longer afford to sit back and only focus strictly on KCFD issues . . . The overall financial health of KCMO impacts firefighter rank and file and putting a stop to the TOY TRAIN SPENDING SPREE INSANITY clearly benefits all municipal employees who have taken one beating after the next.

Now, we're BLOWING THE LID OFF THIS MOVE before anybody else and we expect hateration from all sides as we challenge popular preconceptions and reveal that Mayor Sly is quickly losing his toy train fight thanks to his arrogance and confrontational political bargaining style.

Developing . . .

Comments

  1. So in two days he lost citizens, freedom and now the FD rank and file. That should make the message very clear for Sly. Watch him to abandon his friends pushing this one now.

  2. Sly is losing friends quick, that's what happens when he starts taking bad advice from people who pretend to be his friends and pretend they know what they're talking about.

  10. The TDD expansion loss is going to much more srious than these folks let on. There's no where near enough money generated by the original Main Street TDD to build, operate, and maintain that 2.2 miles and about every dime that could be found in the current general fund is long gone.
You can hide behind the curtain only so long, and the empty suit is about to be revealed.
And I'm not sure dancing is going to cut it in this case.
When you try to pull a fast one over on the public, you need to pick something that can be done quickly so everyone can move on before they notice their watch is missing.
And a multi-hundred million dollar project ain't it.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Municipal politics 101: certain departments receive earmarked money (we raise taxes for MAST or KCATA) but all of those departments are also funded from the general fund. When the general fund is raided to pay for projects like P&L or streetcar, departments like city planning, etc. don't get raises. The firefighters union is strong plus it's easier to pass a tax for fire fighters as opposed to a tax for municipal courts.

I'm always skeptical of tax increases; specifically sales tax increases, because it lets city hall off the hook for irresponsible spending. Firefighters deserve a raise, but so do many people in city hall who don't get to raise taxes for their salaries.

I reluctantly support the firefighters tax because this mayor/council does not appreciate them,l. A vote for streetcar is a vote against bus drivers, codes adminstration, animal services, traffic, etc. Because that is millions being siphoned from the fund that pays their salaries.

Downtown Council $10,000, Civic Council $25,000, Chamber of Commerce $25,000, Shook Hardy&Bacon $10,000 Lathrop & Gage $10,000 KCP&Light $2500, plus many other people who are in the TIF district. They have put to much money over the years to stop now. Many Law firms Shygart Thompson & Kilroy,Polsinelli. Even a firm from California Gillig Corp. So once again we go to the polls after 6 times of saying no to Light Rail.

If you complainers took a 30,000 foot view of streetcars in the US, you might, again might, change your tone while maintaining your position.

I have lived in at least 4 cities that have gone through process, and in each one there has been a valid opposing position. If the "no" constituency turns out to be correct, then the advocates get turned out in the next election. Conversely, if they are wrong, they go away and move on to the next public matter.

This applies to many issues that Tony vents on this blog. People learn to "steel" themselves against the hate and mean rhetoric expressed here, and in turn, you marginalize yourself. The only audience is other mean spirited haters.

If Tony wants to use this blog as an effective public policy arena, he is going to have to address the component of posters who are nothing but hate filled angry people who enjoy disparaging others through anonymous posts.

For the self loathing guy, that is why I occasionally drop in. Not because of the hate, but the hope that real open dialogue I'm a free and respectful manner can return to TKC.

The issue for many of the Dan Cofran's is that they share the same position as many of the haters and conspiracy theorists that don't have time of respect for any position that is different than theirs. Dan is not like this, but I sense his embarrassment when joked at by the vitriol of people that approach public issues with the hate and anger you find on this blog.

I'm also a fireman in KC. I don't live out south, so I can't vote, but if I did I'd vote for it. I don't think most firefighters would on the job. Seems pretty unpopular, but most of us aren't exactly city-people. I live up here for the schools mostly, but I think it would be great to have light rail here. They have it everywhere else and it works good. Don't know why we should be the only city that doesn't have it.

Seems like all the people against it are just the same people that always bitch anytime anything changes.
