SIGN OF MORE KANSAS CITY GRASSROOTS TOY TRAIN STREETCAR RESISTANCE!!!

As the Kansas City election date moves closer this is about the time when the inevitable political sign stories start to pop up.

Cowtown rubes love to complain about sign-stealing and/or misplacement along with other stuff that makes for a quick headline and might even earn a TV mention in between water-slide coverage. TKC NOTE: Earlier in the campaign we noted that JaxCo hopeful and baseball legend Frank White has WON the latest political sign battle with his Pat O'Neil/Mr. Peanut paid branding that has pretty much papered this town.

But recently, I noticed something just a bit different in my local travels.

Check out this home made and hand crafted sign of Kansas City Toy Train Streetcar resistance in the urban core.

While union print shop considerations in addition to political consultant politics usually dominate most Kansas City yard signage campaigns, this sign was posted on the property of some dude who just wanted to make his own crappy and horribly designed statement against the onslaught of local taxes being railroaded the way of the electorate on the upcoming Aug. 5th ballot.

Right now, it's a nice preview of another taxing and probably low voter turnout decision day coming soon.

More in a bit . . .

  1. Detroit is so cash strapped it's now cutting off water service to scofflaw elderly residents. Toy train backers there recently begged the feds for an additional $12 million in funding and are pushing ahead with the project anyway.

  4. This is the opportunity to send a big message to the empty-headed bozos at city hall who have allowed themselves to be stampeded into this fiasco and financial disaster for the entire city by the snake oil being sold all around the country by the urban futurists and associated contractors and salesmen who score big-time every time another city takes the bait.

  8. Do you remember downtown/crossroads before 2000? It was a dump and dead after 5. How did it become the community full of art and cool bars and restaurants that it is today? Not by dumping $500 million into toy trains.

  9. How about voting no on anymore tax hikes, bond issues, CID's, or anything else until we see some audits on where the money they've already gotten has gone.

  13. 5:09 - untrue, I'm the sixth and I haven't posted a word. But since you asked...vote NO on the streetcar tax.

  14. 5:09 is in for a big surprise when the train is defeated.

Streetcar supporters are just about a dozen scammers getting consulting fees.

  16. Bus philanthropy wouldn't yield any downtown monuments or splashy groundbreaking ceremonies, like the the ones we expect we’ll be subjected to when the starter line opens, including all the tiresome bromides about the city’s comeback.

  17. NO on the streetcar cash grab that benefits only design/construction folks who make huge political donations! It is only us, the voters, who can tell these design/construction buttholes to go somewhere else.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Oh - I forgot to mention folks like the Polsinelli lawyers who also feed on this tax money like lampreys on a game fish - they have made $$$$$ and don't want their cash cow to go away if the streetcar doesn't pass.

  19. #7 to comment- voting no streetcars from West Plaza.

  20. Great graphics on the purple sign. The way "Unnecessary" is slanted really drives the point home.

  30. Funny how all the no signs are either in a very few Brookside yards (especially one that is partially built on city right of way) or at businesses or on subruban commuter highways, but all the actual taxpaying residents seem to want better transit.
