John Lamping: Missouri road tax proposal is a cynical grab by special interests
Money quote:
"First, this would be the largest tax increase in Missouri’s state history. This proposal would increase our state sales tax by 17.75 percent to nearly 5 percent on all taxable purchases.
The increase, combined with existing local sales taxes, would place Missouri as the ninth highest combined state and local sales tax burden in the country.
St. Louis and Kansas City would have higher sales taxes than Chicago and New York."

More than anything, that last line should give readers a moment of pause . . .
It is an insane proposition - get out and VOTE THIS DOWN.

ReplyDeleteI don't often vote but when I do, I vote no. Stay pissed off my friends.
Vote No on all tax increases. If this passes then any valid local increase, say 1/8 for something truly beneficial are likely doomed in the future. We will have shot our wad.
ReplyDelete4:30 - Only the wealthy had their income taxes cut in the same session. That cut is more than what the sales tax will generate. Quit spreading lies you degenerate consultant piece of shit.
