SHAME!!! LIGHT SUMMER RAIN LAST NIGHT RESULTS IN MORE KANSAS CITY STREET FLOODING AND DRIVER DANGER!!!

The trend this season is that Kansas City can't cope with just a bit of rain and our local politico priorities continue to be screwed up and unconcerned with failing sewer and water infrastructure . . .

AS ELECTION SEASON APPROACHES, IT'S IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER SO MUCH LOCAL GOVERNMENT FAIL APPARENT ON KANSAS CITY STREETS AS POLITICOS CONTINUE TO BEG FOR MORE TAXPAYER CASH!!!

Latest example . . .

KSHB: Cars rescued from high water on KC roads

Deets:

"Several drivers had to be rescued from high water from the area of Choteau, just south of Front Street. That's an area where flooding occurs frequently. One driver even bailed on his vehicle, leaving it at Manchester and Wilson.

"It was also slow-going for drivers trying to plow their way through high water at Van Brunt, just east of Prospect. Several inches of rain collected on those roadways."

And it might seem that the recent spate of flooding on local streets might merit consideration from folks pushing the transportation tax but it looks like most of their efforts remain toy train focused...

  1. TKC, if you're readers want to get really pissed they'll look at the water bill and notice that it keeps climbing month after month.

That's the real shame in all of this. The taxes just keep getting higher and the costs go up too.

  7. Wise up people. We will never get basic services or improvements south of the river except the street car as long as the city manager, director of public works, and the water department director all live north of the river. They don't give a shit about you people south of the river. Call your council people for their immediate removal.

  8. The intersection at Choteau just south of Front Street has had a major flooding problem for DECADES. The storm sewers in the are at a low point, down from the Independence Ave hill, and literally gush water during rains. You'd think they would have fixed the problem by now, but the only things down there are junk yards and old trucking depots, neither of which have much political pull.

  9. It's interesting that while the City faces BILLIONS in mandated water/sewer upgrades in the next few years, the only "creative" financial thinking that seems to be occurring concerns how to suck hundreds of millions of more dollars for a streetcar that on it's best day as a means of public transportation will be horribly under-utilized and on it's worst day as a means of economic development will be an abject failure.

Lasts nights storm was a light rain, in much the same way that Octomoms Clown Car vagina is tiny like a mouse's ear.

  11. This news just in:

Water tends to seek its lowest level, so streets in low-lying areas are likely to flood!

  15. I agree with a lot of posts here, and some not so much. Frankly the citizens of KCMO are hard working folks, that deserve the monies they pay in taxes to be alotted to the right and correct causes.

We all know there is a large and expensive fix to our water delivery system, that we will all share. It needs to be done, as I enjoy clean water for my family.

We all understand our Airport is very convenient the way it exists and serves air travelers well. But when you have a 1982 Nissan Sentara that needs a new engine, only the ignorant put one in.

In regard to the street car, you have got to be kidding me. Coming from a different state where all the public attractions are virtually in a row, you bet. This city is not laid out to support this system, it WILL be a waste of money and our local government should realize there are far greater needs to take care of. Put the wants off until the needs are met. This is a no brainer, as every hard working family has to do, make good financial choices to survive and thrive.

But it DOESNT need a new engine. It runs fine. All it needs is some new wiper blades.
