KANSAS CITY LESSON IN SCHOOL HOUSE GENTRIFICATION: ACADEMIE LAFAYETTE PUBLIC MEETING FIGHT COMING SOON!!!

TKC EXCLUSIVE PREVIEW . . . There just might be some pretty loud complaining about this plan (from both sides) that could stop this plan right in its tracks . . . Considering that it's based on "educational gentrification" according to some insiders: Here's What You Need To Know About KCPS-Academie Lafayette Plan

"The district has been holding parent and community meetings this month to get feedback on the plan, which would require most current Southwest students transfer to other KCPS schools. The next meeting is at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Paseo Academy, 4747 Flora Ave., Kansas City, Missouri."

  1. The low class brought this on themselves. It could have been avoided by good behavior and better academic performance. White property owners simply aren't going to allow poverty stricken, violent teens destroy the character of their neighborhood. In contrast, on the other side of town that destruction is the norm and completely acceptable. The discussion needs to be about improving self-respect and societal standards that reinforce respectful interactions with others.

  2. Lets all bone up on our "African Studies" curriculum. Jesus God in heaven, if you can't get a passing grade in that shit, yo probably can't even fog a mirror you're so stupid.

  3. Crime has gone up in the area surrounding SW because some of these students are breaking into houses and cars when they skip school or when they leave school for the day.

  4. Everything is bon!

  5. Well, that will take care of the darkie problem at Southwest. They can't even mumble the English language, much less master French, Spanish or Mandarin. I hope, for the sake of the surrounding neighborhood, this works out.

  6. Those urban skollars have standards!

They are all low. Like KCMSD.

  7. Acadamie Lafayette has many black students, 5:00, but why let facts stand in the way of a good soundbite?

  8. What is the point?
    1. Close SWECC
    2. Lafayette gets the KCPS to pay for its IB program
    3. KCPS thinks that it is going to get some of the 75% of Southwest white kids not enrolled in public school to be added into their test scores.

Essentially the district will be spending a lot of money on kids that are not even in the district. It would be nice if KCPS would address its concerns to the kids that are already enrolled.

  9. Well, all-knowing 6:10, if AL has so many porch monkeys then why is there so much backlash toward this idea?

  10. Fortunately, not of the best and brightest that this board has to offer has a say. Do any of you have children? If you do, are you active in raising them? Talk shit from the sideline all you like, but strictly speaking... None of you have any business interjecting. Drink a mich ultra and let the grown ups talk.

  11. Wow 3:26, you are one profound and poignant dingleberry. Thanks for chiming in.

  12. Frankly, I can't understand why you'd want your child to stay at Southwest after multiple charges of rape and all the violence that occurs there. I don't care HOW the district remedies that situation. If kids are facing that kind of environment every day, then they need to be moved to a different facility where the staff is equipped to appropriately monitor them.

This Academie Lafayette/KCPS merger has been in the planning stages for a while, and had originally been considered at Westport High School. I know because my daughter was at Carver Dual Language Academy when it was first brought up. I'm cautiously optimistic about the proposition, although we're happy with the opportunities provided by Lincoln College Preparatory Academy.
