Kansas City Country Club Plaza Lures Away Big Biz From Leawood & 450 Jobs

KC Biz Journal broke this story of ongoing biz poaching despite a so-called truce: "The 450 employees for CBIZ Inc. and Mayer Hoffman McCann PC offices in Leawood will move to the 13-story Plaza Steppes Building near the Country Club Plaza. The move is tentatively scheduled for the summer of 2015, CBIZ and MHM said in a release Tuesday. Plaza Steppes will provide the firms as much as 120,000 square feet and offers a 500-car underground garage."

The price tag for this bit of MO/Kan gamesmanship was rather steep: Missouri offers up to $26M to lure CBIZ to Plaza

  2. They moved from the Plaza to Leawood to gain incentives from KS. As soon as their time was up in KS they move back to the Plaza for new incentives. In 2025 they will move back to Leawood.
