Celebrate Kansas City Democracy Pretense And The Kemper Arena Forgone Conclusion

Remember that THE MOST KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS already told us that Kemper Arena is a done deal . . .

Today, The City Council is pretending to debate this subject while Mariner might be in either his Colorado Chateau or traveling abroad . . .

KC Biz Journal: American Royal has strong case for Kemper demolition

KMBC: American Royal leaders say they raised more than $10 million toward the organization's goal of building a new structure to replace Kemper Arena in Kansas City.

KC Biz Journal: City Council tours Kemper Arena

KSHB: The city's planning and zoning committee is considering American Royal's proposal to demolish and replace the arena, or another plan to renovate Kemper into a regional youth sports complex.

KCUR: "Doing nothing doesn't seem to work for anybody," Kansas City Councilman Ed Ford told members of the Planning, Zoning and Economic Development Committee Thursday morning, kicking off a series of meetings to discuss Kemper's future.

TKC Fact Check . . .

IN REALITY, MARINER KEMPER MADE THIS DEAL MONTHS AGO WITH A FEW SIT-DOWNS AND LESS THAN A HALF-A-DOZEN PHONE CALLS!!!

So maybe we can stop pretending that Kansas City is going to anything other than EXACTLY what the rich, white guy wants . . .

Comments

  1. Just another proven lie. When the Sprint vote was being decided we were told Kemper would remain viable for years to come.

  3. As long as the dumb asses of KC continue to vote like nothing is wrong there will be be no end. I dont care if the Royal horses ass show raise a billion bucks in the end the city will end up pitching in another billion. Kemper sits empty while smaller cities are packing their venues for concerts. If course they don't have AEG doing the flim flam either.

  4. How 'bout the tax payers buy into another arena when the city signs a pro basketball team at Sprint... or did the dumb asses of KC forget the promises and bullshit that was spinning before Sprint was built.

  5. Good deal, we do not want to lose the American Royal.

  6. With the report that came out regarding the permitting department, it wont matter because they will never get a demo permit.

I told them years ago that they should re-do the whole place in PINK! Just like my office! PINK!

They did not listen so burn the place down.

If they did that I feel like if I attended anything there I would feel like I was inside a gient pimple.

  9. I suppose we paid for the pink office too?

  10. First, you let AEG invest in the Sprint center, then you hand them the contract to market both the Sprint and Kemper. Now you act as if you can't understand what went wrong with our money.

The truth being told, I'm surprised the GOP didn't suggest Kemper as a better site for their convention.

  11. They would be afraid to have the RNC there because of all the Hispanics. You get more that three Latinos in a twelve block area and the GOP freaks out.

  12. I think that we need to gentrify the American Royal and turn it into a dressage and showjumping mecca.

  13. The American Royal was ruined by the one and only George Guestello, the cross dressing faggot that now milks taxpayers from Union Station.

    Douche Bag fucking loser.

  14. the gays dont like georgie porgie so they call him a crossdresser, lol. He fired that fag from KC museum like shit through a goose!

  15. If Mariner Kemper and all these other rich people associate with the American Royal/Kemper Arena want a new playground, then let THEM come up with 100% of the financing. Tax payers in this city are on the hook for way too much entertainment and leisure projects.

Plus, does the American Royal really mean as much to this community as it did a couple decades ago? Worth sinking Tens of Millions of dollars more of tax payer dollars? I don't think so. If Mariner Kemper and all these other cats with more means that most of the tax payers in KC want this, then have them pay for it. If they aren't willing to put their money at risk, then why should we?

    ReplyDelete
  16. I get so sick of these millionaires and billionaires wanting tax payers to finance things for THEM when we have necessities that are lacking just so they don't have to take much risk. If it's really worth it and they really want it, then let them put their money at risk. Least they have money to put at risk unlike most of the community. If they aren't willing to do that, why should we? Don't ask me to do something you're not willing to do yourself.
