TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! MAYOR SLY'S RESOLUTION PROPOSES NEARLY ALL OF KANSAS CITY'S CASH FROM MISSOURI TRANSPORTATION TAX ROUTED TO THE TOY TRAIN STREETCAR!!!

It's kind of been transit day here @ TKC but there's just a great deal of news to report on this topic . . . Take a look at Kansas City Mayor Sly already putting Kansas City on track to spend Missouri Transportation Tax money that could come as a result of a recent vote on the toy train.

To wit . . .

CITY HALL INSIDERS RAGE OF MAYOR SLY'S PROPOSAL TO DIRECT ALL OF KANSAS CITY'S TRANSPORTATION TAX TO THE TOY TRAIN WHEN THIS TOWN HAS SO MANY OTHER ROADWAY PROJECTS THAT HAVE BEEN DELAYED!!!

Here's the word . . .

Resolution: #140500

Deets with the most important part UNDERLINED:

"The state’s contribution to Phase 2 of the Kansas City Streetcar project shall total $210M over the life of the 10 year transportation sales tax. The $210M budget shall include the $20M capital funding for Prospect MAX and $50M for Streetcar Phase 2, the full amount of the City’s 5% share of the tax identified for cities statewide, and MoDOT discretionary funds above and beyond the formula of funds committed to the MoDOT Kansas City District."

Like it or not, this is just another example of local priories being twisted to power a controversial eco-devo scheme.

Developing . . .

Zomg! Corruption! Disenfranchisement! Unjust! Undue burden!).

  24. 7:49...as CORRUPT as the KC government is, you might be right about SLY robbing a bank to fund the streetcar that no one gives 2 shits about, but when they put the robbery video on the media aka the spoon of shit that citizens of this city rely on to get their fill of propaganda, well in the end the video footage of said robbery will be a white guy and the spoon fed morons in this city will buy it. No hope here in KC for change.

  25. 7:56 Anyone who knows anything about transit knows that street cars are not serious transit...serious money but not serious transit. Buses are much more economical. Cost much less per rider mile.

  26. I am sure the streetcar will eventually be named the "Bill George Express" just wait! and I am sure Mr. 20th century Mobster has a part in the streetcar concept in this city, he runs transportation in this city and would NEVER allow for a cut in money from his taxi monopoly, this will surface ( It will happen), its called paying attention and reading between the KC corruption lines taxpayers, and here is a bonus!, YOU dumb KC fuckers will be the ones paying for it BUHAHAAAAA

    ReplyDelete
  27. People in KC have been choking on stupid for years, nothing will ever change here. As they say history always repeats itself - that comes from the model of no ambition taxpayers your city has!, they pay the money and could also give two shits less where that money goes or what the corrupt politicos do with it. What a very sad reality for a city!

  31. Is Burns McDonald the front for the private control that is going to take over the train after it is built by our tax money?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Don't think it will ever be privately controlled because it will never be profitable. Who would want it?

B&M will construct it and then deconstruct it in a few decades. The city will pay B&M now and later.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Why would a public transit system be "profitable". Roads aren't. Sewers aren't. Sidewalks aren't.

Also, when will Rex's puppet and his half retarded troll file an ethics complaint against the outreach for the largest tax increase in state history to pay for outstate welfare queens to bills roads to nowhere that no one will use?

Oh wait, hucks got to get hucked and shills got to shill.

It's like death and entitled white suburbanites crying. Unavoidable

    ReplyDelete
  34. The streetcar doesn't have to be profitable to be successful; the goal is to remove cars from the street and connect people to their living, working, shopping, and dining destinations. It's simply a disproportionate allocation of limited shared resources to an area that has already seen the highest concentration of taxpayer subsidies in the city for decades. And worst of all, citizens of kc were never given a fair vote, and Russ Johnson promises that if this unfair election that they've rigged fails, the city will just try even harder to disenfranchise us next time.

    ReplyDelete
  35. "Why would a public transit system be 'profitable'. Roads aren't. Sewers aren't. Sidewalks aren't."

If you'll read the post, Mensa boy, saying the street car would not be profitable was in response to a question about a private company taking it over. You actually have a good point in that public transit, roads, sewers, sidewalks, etc. are not meant to be profitable, but you have yet to answer the really basic questions about the streetcar, among which are: Why would a streetcar be better than buses? And why not invest the money we'll be wasting on the streetcar on more buses and improve the transit system we already have?

    ReplyDelete
  36. 10:47 frames the question perfectly; we have an abundance of roads in KC. If we're going to invest in rail, it should absolutely have a dedicated lane. We should be getting some kind of improvement for that kind of investment. Rail is slightly better, but exponentially more expensive.

And because KC is so spread out, rather than base a rail system on an outdated transit network planned around downtown, we should reform our bus network to connect residential areas to commercial districts and jobs in their own community and neighboring communities. The best way to accomplish a widespread transit overhaul is through buses.

Once we've engineered a system that works for all citizens rather than just a handful in downtown kc, then we can present transit growth data suggesting the best way to create an express system (maybe rail, maybe bus)

  37. Thanks for sharing TKC. Because of this i will be voting no on State's transportation tax proposal.
