TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY WANTS TO OUTSOURCE KCFD JOBS TO BIZ THAT LOST PATIENT DATA!!!

Here's a quick reminder on an important topic that kind of ties into recent patient data breaches in Kansas City . . .

KANSAS CITY PLANS TO OUTSOURCE KCFD JOBS TO INTERMEDIX DESPITE RECENT PATIENT DATA BREACHES!!!

Again, don't take my word for it . . . Here's the info from other newsies . . .

931 in Berkeley may be ID theft victims

Deets . . .

"Authorities believe the information was stolen from Intermedix Inc., an agency in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., that collects bills from patients who are taken to hospitals by city ambulances.

The Berkeley Fire Department is one of 27 agencies in 17 states whose patients may have had personal information stolen from Intermedix and its parent company, Advanced Data Processing Inc."

But wait . . . It gets worse . . .

TURNS OUT OTHER CITIES ARE WARNING KCMO THAT OUTSOURCING TO INTERMEDIX IS A REALLY SKETCHY ARRANGEMENT!!!

Here's communication intercepted by TKC . . .

William Pearman, Superintendent, Chariton County Ambulance District - Salisbury, MO writes:

"We were with the Intermedix billing and ePCR system for approximately three and a half years.

Our experience with the billing company was not up to the standard that we were used to or needing. Our main problems with Intermedix was untimely billing, lack of follow-up billing, and a minimum charge for their service despite what was collected. I'll expand more on each.

As you are probably aware, Missouri VA claims need to be filed rapidly or will be denied. Over the last three month, we have found over $10,000 in monies that had to be "written-off" due to untimely filling with the VA. Intermedix was not timely in their secondary filling either. If the signature wasn't on file or the insurance information wasn't readily available, contrary to their claim, they didn't work to gather that information . . .

Due to our low call volume, we were able to review each call and review each patient account. We were able to track patient billing and noticed discrepancies frequently, ranging from lack of activity to Intermedix simply zeroing out accounts without our permission or knowledge."

Read that last part closely . . .

  8. Are your headlines true? Did you verify that they lost patient data? Research Hospital lost patient data at the trash dumpster that blew away. Are you suggesting people not use Research? Did the billing company actually lose patient data or did a criminal steal it to file false tax returns?
