TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! DOX: KANSAS CITY AMBULANCE BILLING OUTSOURCING PETITION BLOCKS MAYOR SLY AND SEXY CINDY POWER PLAY!!!

Last night, we posted and talked breaking news about a petition to stop a controversial City Hall outsourcing power play from Mayor Sly and Mayor Pro Tem Cindy Circo.

Right now . . .

AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS PROVIDE OUR BLOG COMMUNITY WITH ALL OF THE DOX REGARDING A PETITION AND POWERFUL CHECK TO MAYOR SLY AND SESSY CINDY!!!

First: Only On TKC Take A Look At The Petition Circulating Through The Urban Core That Already Has At Least 400 Signatures And Enough Juice To Delay The KCFD Outsourcing Ordinance

And then . . .

ONLY ON TKC: HERE'S THE PETITION FACT SHEET WITH A GREAT DEAL OF DATA AIMED @ STOPPING KANSAS CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT OUTSOURCING!!!

Some money quotes from this group of community leaders behind this effort . . .

"Ambulance patients should not be put at risk for identity theft by contracting with a company that has experienced such a massive identity theft problem and then failed to fully disclose it."

"The city should not rely on empty promises by private companies to increase revenues when such companies refuse to put these projections in a legally binding contract. (In fact, the proposed contract would let Intermedix collect less than city employees are collecting now with no financial penalties whatsoever, and minimum collection requirements could actually go down in future years.)"

"The business practices of this company raise serious concerns, especially after it was revealed that the company recently hired the Chicago city official that had worked on extension of its contract with the city."

However, here's my favorite line from an architect of the petition . . .

"This deal is so bad that only a crook or a fool would buy into it. Maybe both."

Now . . . Here's why this is a big, bad deal for City Hall . . .

- This type of petition to block an ordinance is a relatively rare occurrence in Kansas City politics. Push back moves along these lines happened recently with airport petitioners and earlier with critics of a nasty Plaza office building . . . In both instances, community discontent powered the Mayor And Council to back down.

- The issue of medical privacy are an EASY SELL on Kansas City streets given recent headlines and fear of identity theft constantly in the headlines. Insiders tell us this group of only around half a dozen people were able to garner the initial signatures in about a day.

- Look for UNION SUPPORT AGAINST OUTSOURCING AND MORE IMPENDING CITY HALL PRIVATIZATION which looks to send a message to Kansas City politicos and their corporate patrons.

- A great deal of this conflict was sparked by the arrogance and stubbornness of Mayor Sly James given a quick dismissal of his opposition and knee-jerk reaction against political opponents. More often then not, we're seeing the Mayor lose his cool and end up in a political jam - Not a good look going into election season.

- Fun Fact, Members of Kansas City's Black Clergy have taken this to heart and seem to be taking this a struggle for social justice for many of their Local 500 members.

To wit . . .

THIS COULD BE A POWERFUL POLITICAL TIPPING POINT FOR KANSAS CITY BISHOP TONY CALDWELL WHO IS ONE OF THE LEAD PETITIONERS!!!

Moreover . . .

WHAT WE'RE SEEING NOW IS A KANSAS CITY UNION AND URBAN CORE UPRISING AGAINST THE CORPORATE POLITICS OF MAYOR SLY AND SESSY CINDY!!!

Again, as election season approaches, the current epoch of this Administration has almost completely lost its luster as more challenges, skepticism and political pushback has started to arise.

  1. 7,143 to require the ordinance to be repealed by the Council or submitted to a public vote (Section 710). that is the magic number TKC.

If they can get that then they will have delivered the Mayor one of the worst smack downs he has seen in his career so far.

  3. Council should outsource Troy Shitty, I mean Schulte.

  7. Sexy Cindy is proving the most corrupt Kansas City politician since Tom Pendergast. The woman is all about pay for play: The Electric Company, Large Engineering Firms (or "candidate training sites), and now this vendor who was too corrupt for Chicago!

    Where is the FBI?

  8. A Positive Role Rather than A Home For Racist Rants6/30/14, 8:03 AM

Tony, how about hosting a petition on this blog or linked web page to urge the Justice Department to open a criminal investigation into Cindy Baker (Circo) for suspicion of public corruption through bribery and racketeering? There is no lack of probable cause, but DOJ is a shaking bunny in any area outside "Terrorism." They need cover to act.

  9. None of this should be the least bit surprising.
KCMO government hasn't been about what's best for the city's residents or businesses for decades.
It's always what's best for the endless line of insiders, salesmen, grifters, attorneys, consultants, and all the rest who hang around the 22nd and 29th floors of city hall dialing for dollars.
Where do you think the streetcar idea came from? The same folks who consistently voted AGAINST spending their money for rail projects year and year?
KCMO residents would ave money by just doing away with electing people, cutting out the middleman, and having the major law and engineering firms appoint their folks to run the city.
At least that would give you an honest look at how things are really done.

  13. Skippy's Third-Term Privitation Land Give Away6/30/14, 8:35 AM

Why is Skippy Sanders paying outside law firms to study a long list of deeds and bequests of land to the Jackson County Parks and Recreation Department looking for legal means to void those agreements and privatize the park system? And does Councilman Scott Taylor represent a corporate entity which would benefit from that land grab? And we would be interested to know if anyone has looked into the land adjacent to Blue Springs Lake owned by Blue Springs Alderman Dale Carter -- where a certain robe-wearing secret order has burned crosses over the years? Furthermore, it would be interesting to note that both of these city officials are married to women who receive paychecks from Jackson County (Cathy Jolly and Lisa Carter) who do little else but undermine Parks and Rec Director Michele Newman.

  16. Actual people (not ax grinders) care about this a lot less than you might think.

As for online petitions, they're like shit: they look baf, smell worse, and dry up quickly.

  17. Let them outsource the billing and collection - the pros will do a better job at getting collecting money from ambulance free riders. Move on to more important issues.

  18. How much you wanna bet 6/30/14, 8:36 AM that the 6/30/14, 8:35 AM traces back to an IP address assigned to Lisa Honn? Sanders has completely lost control of County Administration, which is the only thing which makes City Hall look good.

  21. A reasonable center6/30/14, 9:50 AM

Kansas City should negotiate a transfer of Longview Lake from the County to the City, rather than privatizing it as planned.

It is true that the facility is under used due to poor management, but say what you will about City Hall as a whole, the KCParks Dept. is far more professional than Jackson County. Before Jackson County ruins more land and wildlife reserves it would be better to transfer as many of these resources to the City as is possible. A transfer to the City would be preferable to signing a sweetheart deal with some corporation.

  22. You can see a very dramatic drop in civic engagement north of 51st street if you look at all the data-stats-information. Brookside appears to be one of the few neighborhoods left it looks like with real political clout and the ability to kick ass.

At least some people in the new "CK" (north of 51st to downtown) are making some kind of an effort.

  23. Lisa Carter and Cathy Jolly should quit with the drum beat of criticism that they level against Michele Newman.

    Take that 8:48!

  25. What goes around ....6/30/14, 10:43 AM

How much money does Lisa Carter spend on close-up head and shoulder shots at a 45 degree lean? The photo shop time on these pictures must drive the processing costs through the roof. I hope she is not billing all these photos back to the County!

  26. Never forget, Cindy's dad is Bill Baker of Methtown fame.

Corrupt politics is in her DNA.

  27. Lets outsource 18th & Vine, Science City, the train and the airport and get the city back into the government business which has obviously become such a boring job that local politicians just can't force themselves to do it.
