"The report, called "Prosperity at the Crossroads," says that fewer than half of the 100 largest metropolitan areas, including the greater Kansas City region, had recovered all the jobs they lost during the recession by the end of 2013.
Data in the report show that Kansas City employment rates, wage growth and job growth are all down."

Local leadership isn't about the perception of likeability or charisma . . . This is evidenced by the fact that Mayor Sly has been getting more pissed off @ public meetings as of late.
Meanwhile, this town's corporate parents are taking all of their cash back to the Golden Ghetto while the promise of jobs and development remains a cruel scheme inflicted on residents and carried out through low voter turnout gerrymandered elections devised by corrupt elected officials and political consultants.
And if you think it's bad now . . . Just wait for the market correction that's coming.

ReplyDeleteI'd tend to agree with your point that Sly should have no impact on the economy. The problem is EVERYTHING this horrible Mayor has done so far, including the Toy Train, East Patrol and every other scheme he's come up with since being elected has been build on the premise that he will "SPUR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT". His words, not Tony's. So, you need to do some fact checking on your own. And TAX INCREASES do affect the economic health of a city and region. Any so... your premise that Sly cannot and does not impact the economy is simply irregular and erroneous.
Actually the street car started under funk with Russ Johnson and east patrol was in play from the public safty sales tax also under funk, but those are facts. Learn before you repeat.

82% of the residents of the metro ALREADY don't live in KCMO and are not very likely to move there.
ReplyDeleteThey're all watching in fascination and disbelief as Sly and the gang take the largest municipality in the metro right over a cliff, stampeded by 20-something millenials and hipsters, and the grandiose promises of the urban futurist industial complex.
If the plan still is making downtown financially sustainable as a taxpayer-subsidized amusement park for 20-something year olds, it will certainly be an intereting experiment to watch.
As long as you don't have to pay for it.

Find one piece of legislation or documents showing East Patrol was going to be located at 26th Prospect. There is NONE. I repeat and repeat again... NONE. Your facts won't hold up in court!
