  1. False Dilemna.

Lots and lots of places have both functional public transportation and good public safety. They are called cities.

  2. Too bad KCMO isn't one of them.

  4. Buses are public transportation, Mensa boy. The MAX lines are really efficient. You might want to check them out.

  5. About time for an emergency visit by Richard Florida and the urban futurist industrial complex gang to offer some moral support and maybe a whole new list of buzz words and phrases to try to breath some life into the streetcar expansion corpse.
In KCMO even the good ideas turn out badly for lack of implementation and management skills, and this isn't even a good idea.
    The balloon is deflating.

  6. In the new millenial currency I may pay for the streetcar in bespoke turnips or perhaps a jaunty tune on my ukelele.

I'll go from my subsidized cold storage loft to Sabor Centroamericano in less time than it takes to ride a fixie to the airport!

After I buy the 4.99 lunch special (I don't believe in tips) I'll catch a ride upriver and perhaps take in a microwaved latte at YJ's before going down to UMKC to drop all my classes before the W-F deadline.

    Caleb! You're back in KC!
Suit up; we really need you to explain to all these uncreative people that they don't need or want cars and that they should empty the retirement accounts they've been working on for decades and give all the money to the thousands of entrepreneurs and other creative class 20-somethings who are flocking to KC. And get them enthused about higher property taxes for our fixed-guideway system streetcar, too.
We may not have any money or any responsiblities, but we have lots of creativity and great ideas for spending other people's money.
Be SURE to wear your red tenis shoes!

  8. Good to know the suburban fearbots are awake and playing on the internet from their "jobs" so early. Nothing sadder than 40 something white men exercising their capacity for having ill-informed opinion on everything via a blog comments section frequented by 6-8 "people".
