KC Biz Journal: Plaza owner reveals plans for Halls building
Deets:
"Highwoods Properties Inc., which owns the building at 211 Nichols Rd. in Kansas City, is already imagining the possibilities. It plans to transform the 29,000-square-foot retail space to accommodate six to eight upscale tenants and one or two restaurants. The parking garage also will be expanded to fit 740-750 vehicles. The new retail concept will be called Plaza 211."

ReplyDeleteOh yeah, real upscale. We drove through the Plaza last Saturday night and were commenting on what a mess it's become. Yes, the architecture is beautiful, but drive down Armour and Troost and you can see some pretty architecture too, even though it's boarded up and riddled with bullet holes. And what "high-end" retailer is going to want to come onto the Plaza where the majority of stores (Forever 21, Abercrombie, Victoria's Secret, etc.) are the same ones you can find in any strip mall in the U.S.? When real high-end retailers like Saks, Brooks Bros, Hall's, etc. started to leave the Plaza (or announced that they would be), it has become a totally different sort of place, and not for the better.
