U.S. SEN. CLAIRE MCCASKILL ENDORSES SHERWOOD SMITH IN JACKSON COUNTY PRIMARY
McCaskill cites Smith’s public safety experience and commitment to economic dignity as reasons for endorsement
Kansas City, MO – Today, U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Missouri) endorsed Fire Fighter Captain Sherwood Smith for the Jackson County Legislature, First District At-Large, building more support for the campaign after Smith’s successful financial quarter announced in April.
“Fighting to keep our neighborhoods safe and expanding job opportunities for working families aren't anything new for Sherwood Smith,” said Sen. Claire McCaskill. “He's a fire fighter captain with more than 23 years of experience who's earned two Medals of Bravery. He’s proven his willingness to fight for economic dignity and higher wages — and he’s worked to ensure that Missourians' tax dollars are spent wisely. That’s what he’ll do as your County Legislator, and that's why he has my endorsement.”
Smith is one of two Democrats running in the August 5th Jackson County Legislature, First District At-Large. The First District At-Large seat was previously held by Theresa Garza Ruiz, who has decided not to seek reelection.
Garza Ruiz also endorsed Smith in the August 5th primary election for the primary.
