Here are the deets . . .
"In the May sweep rating period, KMBC 9 News was the #1 rated newscast for morning and late news viewing in Kansas City. Weekday mornings, KMBC led all competitors in the critical 4:30 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. time period with a 3.7 rating, 17 HH share. KMBC was the only station to achieve ratings growth year-to-year in this time period. KMBC’s morning news also ranked #1 on weekends with 4.9/15 on Sat/7-9 a.m. and 5.1/16 on Sun/7-9 a.m. Both early evening newscasts also realized growth, with KMBC 9 News at 6:00 p.m. increasing viewership 11.5% year-to-year. KMBC dominated all competitors in late news with a 7.0/14 rating, outperforming the closest competitor by 32%.

9 is starting to suck big time
ReplyDeleteOK, but this says a lot about the audience for TV news. I find KMBC's local news dumbed down, ABC news with the insufferable Diane Sawyer really annoying, and I would award KMBC the station most likely to preempt anything and everything to cover a car chase.
